MECS 50th Anniversary Community Celebration

MECS 50th Anniversary Community Celebration

On Friday 24 November we celebrated the last of our 50th Anniversary events, this event was tailored to celebrate and love on our parents and families. Whilst the weather was not in our favour (although many children still loved playing in the rain!), it was such a joy to see so many families come along and be part of what has been such an incredible 50 years, rich in history.

The highlight for the children was certainly dunking their teachers in the dunk tank and the sumo suits were a big hit!

The oval was filled with excitement and music with many student musical performances on the stage, and a variety of lawn games enjoyed by kids of all ages.

Thank you to all our stallholders who came out, and to Mr Whippy and The Wattle Tree Co Coffee Van for braving the weather and serving the warm coffee and delicious ice cream!

We had many families come along to say their farewells to Mrs Narelle Sketcher and thank her for her dedication to MECS over the years. There will be one last opportunity for families to be involved in Mrs Sketcher's farewell at the Primary Christmas Assembly on Dec 11, keep an eye on our social media pages for updates.

Thank you to everyone who was able to come and be part of the celebrations, without you, MECS wouldn't be the same!  We certainly do love and appreciate the MECS Community!

Reflections of the Year

This year has been momentous! 50 years of celebrating seeking the Kingdom of God.

In Primary School, we are blessed to be able to go on excursions and camps to learn about God’s world.

  • We’ve participated in incursions to learn about science, justice, and self-confidence.
  • We’ve built things like bird boxes and billy carts, we’ve walked for water, and planted seedlings for Ranges TEC, to be local and global citizens.
  • We’ve applied maths to solve problems, and used our literacy skills to write letters to our Prime Minister!
  • We’ve honoured our service men and women in ANZAC, and Remembrance Day Assemblies.
  • We’ve learned more about our Indigenous brothers and sisters than ever before, raising awareness and being the voice!
  • We’ve had the most incredible Productions to showcase our singing, dancing, and speaking talents.
  • We’ve learned another language to better understand our closest neighbours – Indonesia.
  • We have learned so many different skills in art and read amazing stories in Library.
  • Our bodies have been tested and tried in PE with the incredible Mr Brown and his sporting activities.

Through it all, Mrs Sketcher has led this school to be it’s very best. She has the head and the heart knowledge for our learning to be wide, and deep, and meaningful. We are children of God. We are learning how to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our classes, in our homes, and in our community. We are blessed to be at MECS.
