From the Principals

Information from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook and Mrs Strachan

Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 2! We hope that you all had a great Easter break, and enjoyed some time with family and friends. We have a busy term ahead and we are looking forward to continuing to work with you and your family as we move toward mid-year assessments.

In regard to our Semester 1 reports, this year we will be moving to Compass to issue our reports. Some parents have been asking if reports that were previously available on Sentral will be viewable on Compass. This will be possible, but not for a few weeks as we are in the process of transferring everything over from one platform to the other which as we are sure you can imagine, is a huge undertaking for a school of this size. As we are using a new platform, reports will obviously look a little different, but rest assured that your child's progress will be documented through individual comments for Literacy and Numeracy, as well as through alignment with curriculum expectations. More information about the reports will come to you prior to them being published.

Enrolment for 2025

It is hard to believe that we are already talking about 2025 Foundation enrolments! Some of you who have children about to start Foundation may be aware that there is a new online portal for enrolments. This is being rolled out in Government schools, and our region is the first to trial it for some primary and secondary schools. If you have a child that you are wanting to enrol for 2025, or you know of someone who is wanting to enrol (and they live within our zone), please direct them to the Victorian Government School Portal. If you need to check which school you are zoned to (either primary or secondary) please use the Find My School website.

School Social Media pages

We understand that in today's world, many people rely on social media platforms to get our information and news. Many schools end up gathering a collection of social media pages and forums, often run by parents and members of the school community. We remind everyone that posting pictures of children and staff members without explicit consent is not permitted.  We remind you that if you decide to withdraw consent for your child's image to be displayed, please relay this information to the office and your child's teacher.

We have a school managed Instagram account that posts information and celebrations, including images of students with parental consent. Please follow at vermont_primary_school if you would like to!

Community Network

The Community Network were very keen and held a meeting in the first week of term to discuss upcoming events for our students. In this meeting we also discussed our past events and how we can improve on them. These included the Hot Cross Bun Day and the Colour Run. We are now discussing the upcoming Mother's Day Stall which will be held on Tuesday the 7th May and Wednesday the 8th May.

If you are interested in helping on the days at the stall, please click on the link below.

We are asking for helpers to assist with the set up on Monday 6th May, and the pack up on Thursday the 9th May. Please refer to the forms link for the times.

ANZAC Ceremony

On Wednesday the 24th April, Vermont Primary School held their annual ANZAC Day Ceremony. It was presented by our two School Captains; Mackenzie and Jed and our House Captains; Careena and Neal, Soumily and Dylan, Annabelle and Jeremy and Anika and Wesley.

We would like to thank Mrs Battle, Mrs Fuller and Mr Tran for their assistance with the organisation of the ceremony.

Vermont Primary School Cross Country

It was pleasing to see so many children so excited for our annual Cross Country. It was a colourful sight as the House Colours were proudly presented.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Clinton Walsh for his organisation and for all the support from our students, staff and community. It was great to see so many parent helpers at each check point.
