Foundation

Foundation students are continuing to develop their letter formation and learning about correct sentence structure. Students are learning about barrier punctuation and how to create well formed sentences, focusing on WHO and WHAT DOING.

How we organise ourselves

Students are investigating different products and the process they go through before being consumed. They will investigate origins of food products, changes food products go through and distribution of food products.

We are learning to describe the position of an object so we can say where it is.

Fire Education Session

Our Foundation students listened with admiration as our local firefighters delivered a very informative Fire Education session this week. Arriving in their truck, the four emergency service workers made their way on campus to talk to the students about their family’s safety plans should they encounter fire.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙤? ‘Get down low, and go go go!’ they proudly said.

𝙂𝙤 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚? ‘to the letterbox!’ the students responded.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡? ‘000’ they confidently answered.

Damo suited up to show the children the safety gear required to fight a fire, while the children chimed in with many questions.

We thank our local firefighters for sharing their knowledge and helping educate our students and look forward to next week’s session.

Year 1/2

Anzac Day activities

To pay tribute to Anzac Day, children participated in an array of activities with a focus on remembering the sacrifice of the first ANZACs. Children created beautiful artworks, rosemary wreaths and, of course, baked delicious Anzac biscuits to remember the generations of men, women and children who selflessly sacrificed so much.

Visit from Kim O'Keeffe MP and Parks Victoria

The Year 1 and 2 students have continued to delve into their inquiry topic ‘who we are’, exploring the idea that ‘knowing and understanding who I am helps me learn and grow’.

This included two presentations this week which looked at the area of Shepparton.

A huge thank you to Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe and Parks Victoria Yorta Yorta Rangers Auntie Greta and Auntie Hilda for sharing their knowledge of the area with the children.

Kim spoke with the children about growing up in Shepparton, her family, career and how she progressed through government. Formally the Mayor of Greater Shepparton, Kim was elected to represent the region in state parliament in 2022. It was a great chance for the children to find out about the tiers of government as well as an opportunity for them to share what they knew about politics with Kim.

Kim also spoke about her community volunteering in Shepparton with local organisation People Supporting People - a charity that supports people throughout the area in a variety of ways such as supplying food to those in need and catering during times of disaster and tragedy for emergency service workers. Thank you to Kim for your inspiring words.

The children also received an informative presentation from Auntie Greta and Auntie Hilda about Shepparton’s rich Indigenous history and culture. They highlighted the Yorta Yorta totem which is the Broad-shelled Turtle. It plays an important role in our creation stories.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Auntie Greta and Auntie Hilda for sharing their knowledge and stories with the children.

Year 3/4

Hand-eye coordination

It was the perfect weather this week for children to get outside and practice some hand-eye coordination and racquet skills.

Children eagerly kept their balls off the ground by keeping focused on their ball while they kept it in the air with racquets.

Crazy Hair Day

The Year 3 and 4 cohort have put their heads together and proposed a Crazy Hair Day event to take place this term in the School of Wonder.  As part of promotion, the Year 3 and 4 children will spend some time in arts and crafts creating posters for the event.

Well done to the Year 3 and 4 children for demonstrating fantastic initiative in proposing this event.

Wonderful Women's Cuppa & Catch-up

We are excited to welcome our super Mums to the college on Friday 10 May from 8.45am.

For further information and to RSVP for the event, go to the "Upcoming College Events" section of il giornale.

Arriving at school

Please support our staff, and remember that drop off for children is from 8:30am. This is when staff are on duty. Prior to this any staff onsite are preparing for the day ahead, duty of care requirements mean children onsite require supervision and doing this takes staff away from their important preparation time.
