Clay Target Shooting

On Wednesday, April 24, College competed against other schools at the Colac Clay Target shooting school competition. Despite some cold and wet weather, it was a great day out; students competed well with College, taking home the shield reflecting the awesome efforts of everyone who participated.

We saw some great scores, especially from Lachlan Pringle, who scored 19/20; Harry Brown, who scored 17/20; Lachlan Veale, who scored 14/20; and Jordan Dwyer, Libby Diprose, and Ben Vallance, who scored 13/20.

Another great score from Annabel Funcke, shooting 10/20, leading her into a shoot-off where she shot 3/5 and took home 1st place.

Harry Brown took home first in Senior Boys, and Lachlan Pringle won overall high gun for the shoot. Thank you to everyone involved. It was a great start to our competition season, and we are looking forward to what the rest of the year brings.

Hockey

Division 5

College Black Panthers defeated Demons 2-0 in an entertaining match.

Daisy Tigges and George Whinney scored for Black Panthers. A very exciting first game, which was approached with enthusiasm and zest.  It was fantastic to see all those new to hockey leave the field with smiles and our more experienced players supporting and encouraging them. Best on ground for the Black Panthers was Chelsea Pickford.

Division 4

College Foxes had a hard-fought 1-0 win over Coleraine Gold.

Max Cameron scored the only goal of the game.  Best on ground for Foxes was Theo Horne. College Wolves went down 5-1 to a strong Dunkeld side.  Oscar Hawthorne scored a nice short corner goal.  Best on ground for Wolves was Finn Hawthorne.

Division 1 Men's Hockey

The College team recorded a fine 6-1 victory over an undermanned Rams team last Sunday.  Goal scorers were Isaac Shaw (2), Ciaran Nelson (2), Tom Templeton and Mr Ben Hawthorne.

Whilst this was a pleasing first-up effort, there were definite signs of a long time since our previous game, and so there are a number of areas to work on.

Before the game, we spoke about Mrs Robertson’s three keywords from last week: integrity, Persistence, and Curiosity. The team scored a clear pass on the first two. Regarding curiosity, we remain unclear about how good a team we can be, and we need to remain curious as we work to find out!
