Performing Arts
Hi Everyone!
We’ve had a HUGE few weeks in Performing Arts…
Foundation
Foundation students have continued to explore ‘Our Bodies That Move.’ Last week they created a ‘Creatures of the Sea and Land’ Dance. Students used their whole body and individual body parts to improvise the movement characteristics of a particular sea or land animal. This week they created a Movement Story to the well-known soundtrack Ghostbusters.
Year One and Two
Year One and Two students have started to create their own ‘Dance Maps’. Students have drawn their own dance pathways to follow in their ARTS Journals, which utilise shapes, levels and poses. Students have learnt these pathways and will begin teaching them to some of their classmates next week.
Year Three and Four
It was SO great to watch the Year Threes and Fours perform their Short Stage Plays in front of a younger audience last week. They did so well with using their expressive skills - body movements, facial expressions, hand gestures and big loud voices. We are so proud of their amazing efforts. Please take a look at some group shots of the students in character below after their performances. This week, the Year Threes and Fours began their new unit of inquiry ‘World Dance’ and explored the dance style known as ‘Hip Hop’.
Year Fives
The Year Fives also had a great time performing their Clowning Routines in front of their Foundation buddies last week. The performances had a huge amount of audience interaction and it was fantastic to see the Fives getting so many laughs from their buddies. Well done! This week, Year Five students began their new unity of inquiry ‘Flash Mobbing’.
Year Six
The Year Sixes have been having lots of fun creating their class ‘Flash Mobs’. Over the last few weeks, students have created a series of 8-counts within a small group. We then joined these 8-counts together with other groups and added music this week. We will aim to perform these Flash Mobs live in a public space (the Quadrangle) next week before the Year Six ARTS swap over.
Take care,
Miss Mina
