Being an Upstander

A few weeks ago, the Peer Support Leaders were asked to run a session with their Year 7's to promote the importance of being an Upstander. In this session we helped the Year 7's to identify the meaning of 'upstander' and 'bystander', and how different behaviours can affect people. We planned activities to help them learn about helpful behaviours that an upstander can show in different situations.

Bottle Cap Mural

In 2023, the Sustainability Club ran a House Competition where LHC did a collection of bottle caps. The Sustainability Club created an 'Ocean' themed mural that will go outside the Library, as our oceans are the most impacted by litter.  In our Peer Support Session, we gathered out Year 7 students and got them to contribute to the mural by writing their name on bottle caps and sticking as many as they could to the mural.

We also run other activities that were sustainability related, such as Pictionary with sustainability related words, a sorting activity to identify which rubbish types go in which bins and writing 'sustainability goals/pledges.'
