Twilight Movie Night
A Night of Chocolate and Pure Imagination
Last Friday, the Girton Grammar Junior School oval echoed with laughter and excitement as more than 520 members of the school community came together for a memorable twilight movie evening. The event was organised by the Girton Parents and Friends and Friends of Junior School committees with the intention of fostering a sense of community among Girton Grammar families.
Leading up to the start of the movie, everyone was entertained by the magical voices of talented Senior School music students Scarlett Abbott, Eleanor Jackson and Amelie Woodward. Families brought picnic dinners and feasted on an array of snacks, fairy floss, gelato and popcorn available on the night. Attendees also tried their luck at the popular chocolate trailer throw for their chance to win chocolate bars galore and the hidden golden tickets.
Once the sun went down, everyone rugged up in jackets and blankets and huddled together to watch the recently released box-office hit Wonka, a film filled with whimsical charm, catchy music and imaginative narrative.
The event brought the school community together in more ways than one, with many students volunteering to help make the evening a success, from setting up the decorations and checking tickets to spinning fairy floss and running the popcorn stand. Their time and effort were very much appreciated by the organising committee.
As the credits rolled and the lights came back on, everyone agreed that the evening was a resounding success. GPF and FOJS look forward to hosting more events that bring our school community closer together in the future.
GPF and FOJS would like to extend a huge thank you to Ms Kristi Mitchell, Mrs Jess Potter, Mr Mark Beever, Mr Don Thompson, the Girton Maintenance Team, the Year 6 students, the Senior School volunteers and the Girton families who donated lots of chocolate. We would also like to apologise for the sugar highs sustained during the evening.
