Number and Algebra

To begin the term, students will be focusing on subtraction and will then move towards learning about multiplication and its link to division.

Students will explore arrays and will learn various strategies for solving multiplication and division problems. Students will learn vertical multiplication/ formal process, the box strategy, the lattice method.

Multiplication and division facts will continue to be a focus and students will learn strategies to build fluency. As well, students will learn about multiples and factors. Each lesson caters for all learning abilities with support and extension always provided.

Measurement and Geometry

The focus areas are Area, Location & Transformation.

Statistics and Probability

The focus areas are Chance and Probability. Students will learn about the language of chance events and test the probability using simple experiments.
