Year 6 Excursion

Shrine of Remembrance - Year 6 ANZAC Excursion

On Friday the 19th April, the Year 6 students attended an ANZAC Service at the Shrine of Remembrance. This service was ran by Legacy, an organisation which supports ANZAC veterans and their families. There were over 1000 students in attendance from both Primary and Secondary schools across Victoria.

The Year 6 students attended the service on behalf of Greenvale Primary School and were very respectful and reflective of the meaning behind ANZAC Day.

The special service honoured Australia’s brave service men and women through the eyes of the young, with student guest speakers, school bands and Defence Force cadets, special guests and a RAAF fly-over. Our School Captain Sienna and Vice Captain Ethan also laid a beautiful wreath as part of the service.

After having lunch in the lovely gardens surrounding the Shrine of Remembrance, each class toured the Shrine looking at many artefacts and learning about the history of ANZAC soldiers, the wars they have been involved in and the legacy they have left behind.

Thank you and well done Year 6’s on being a part of a very special day!
