Whole School News
Welcome to Season TWO, episode 4 of...
THE BUZZ at Leighland
On today's episode, we head to the Burnie Campus and our Student Captains take us on a tour through their new 5/6 classrooms.
The students have been eagerly awaiting this building to finish so that they could make the space their own and as you can see on this video; they are loving the way it has opened up their learning.
Is there anything better than students learning in the way that suits them individually??! We don’t think so!
So come behind the scenes and enjoy episode 4 of The Buzz.
A Message from our Child Safety Officers
As a school community, we are committed to fostering an environment where our students feel safe, valued and empowered to share their thoughts and concerns. We are excited to share with you a new initiative aimed at enhancing child safety and communication within our school community!
The Feedback Box
This is a new avenue for students to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns with us. There will be two Feedback Boxes located at the Ulverstone Campus; one in the high school Wellbeing Space, and the other in the primary school at the Head of Primary Office.
The Feedback Box at the Burnie Campus will be allocated near Mrs Polden’s office. These locked Feedback Boxes serve as a safe way for students to communicate directly with our school staff. Whether it’s a suggestion for improving the school in some way, a concern, or an idea for a fun school event, we want to hear from our students. By providing a designated space for feedback, we hope to empower our students to take an active role in shaping their educational experience.
Rest assured, all submissions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and each message will be carefully reviewed by relevant staff. We believe that every voice matters, and by listening to our students, we can create a school environment that truly reflects their needs and aspirations.
We encourage open communication between students, parents and staff regarding safety concerns. Our doors are always open, and we welcome any feedback or suggestions that may contribute to the betterment of our school.
Thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children.
God bless,
Cassie Miles
Child Safety Officer and Co-Head of Primary

Kinder 2025
Enrolments for Kinder 2025 are open! Thank you to those families who have already expressed their interest or commenced the enrolment process. We ask that any current families who have little ones for Kindy next year, to please reach out as siblings are not automatically enrolled, and enrolment forms are required to be completed for every child. This will secure your child’s spot and greatly assist our Principals to establish vacancies for new families.
Please contact:
Burnie Campus: Nicole Gillam (PA to Burnie Principal): 6430 9000 or n.gillam@leighland.tas.edu.au
Ulverstone Campus: Lindy Mott (Registrar): 6425 0999 or l.mott@leighland.tas.edu.au
If you know of anyone considering their options for Kinder next year - or any year group, please encourage them to make contact with Nicole or Lindy so that we can set them up with a tour and provide an information pack. Information packs are also available from the office, if you would like to collect one to pass on.
Nicole and Lindy look forward to hearing from you!
