Alumni News

We were delighted to welcome back 8 esteemed alumni to GEC recently, each offering valuable insights and inspiration to our current students.

Ellie Dabos, from the Class of 2023, presented to our Year 12 Art class. Her discussion centred around how she succeeded in the subject as well as practical advice on how to effectively manage time. Having achieved the honour of having her artwork selected for Top Arts last year, Ellie generously shared her expertise, providing invaluable assistance to our students.

Year 11 students also had the privilege of learning from Class of 2023 graduates, Mansha Arora, Zahra Hantko, and Susi Staples. They shared their knowledge from their VCE years, emphasising the importance of organisation, overcoming challenges and participation in leadership roles, as well as effective study techniques. Furthermore, they provided highlights into their current university and work opportunities.

Finally, our Year 9 cohort had the pleasure of meeting 4 alumni, Avrami Hammer (Class of 2015), Zoe Tuttleby (Class of 2016), Gal Gross (Class of 2017), and Eliza Sharpe (Class of 2018). These alumni shared their experiences with subject selection during their time in Year 9, spoke about their various work experience opportunities, and offered insights into their respective career paths.

With Avrami in IT, Zoe a primary school teacher, Gal in the luxury jewellery business, and Eliza in social work, our students gained exposure to a diverse array of career pathways. They also gained clarity on which subjects are instrumental in pursuing these paths.

It was amazing to witness our Year 9 students actively engaged, staying back after the presentation to ask thoughtful questions to our alumni.

The willingness of these 8 alumni to remain connected to their old high school speaks volumes about the strength of the GEC community. We are grateful for their generous contribution which greatly supports our current students.
