Learning Across the
Junior School
Our new Mid-Year Reception students have experienced a wonderful transition in recent weeks. The program is designed to create a nurturing environment that lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning. We began the first transition with a special welcome liturgy and morning tea for all the families. The liturgy was led by the Reception Gold students. Each child was presented with a Loreto Teddy bear. Through the Reception Transition Program, we aspire to support all girls and their families in feeling connected to Loreto College and developing a sense of belonging and community.
Peter Pan Jr Musical
We are thrilled to announce that our Year 5 students will be performing Peter Pan Jr the musical in week 9 of this term. This performance is based on Sir J.M. Barrie's play and will be held in the St Anne’s Performing Arts Centre.
We feel incredibly fortunate to present this musical to the Loreto school community. The girls have been working diligently since the beginning of the year to bring this amazing production to life. The Junior School students will have the opportunity to see this production when the dress rehearsal takes place. However, there is also an opportunity for families to see the performance. To purchase tickets, please visit the following Humanitix link: https://events.humanitix.com/loreto-peter-pan
Performance Schedule:
Matinee: 26 June at 2:00pm
Evening: 25, 26 and 27 June at 6:30pm

Dr Jane Goodall planting 90 trees at Cleland
Two of our students - sisters Rosie and Laura Hopton - were fortunate to have met Dr Jane Goodall over the weekend. Dr Goodall has been travelling since January on her ‘Reasons for Hope’ speaking tour. She visited Cleland Wildlife Park for a special youth event to help plant 90 trees to mark her 90th birthday earlier this year. One of Dr Goodall’s flagship initiatives is Roots and Shoots – a global youth program which aims to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment. South Australia has several youth conservation projects currently operating under the Roots & Shoots banner including blue-banded bees and microbats project and a regent parrot conservation project. Dr Goodall is looking forward to returning to Cleland Wildlife Park and hearing about their work – especially around improving the welfare of its koalas. What an inspirational woman and how fortunate two of our students were to have spent time with Dr Goodall!
Year 6 Science
This week the Year 6 students attended the Senior School Labs. The lab sessions were designed to reinforce our learning of energy and electricity; the concepts of circuits and safety with electricity. The girls tested a large range of circuits to determine the functionality of each and learned about safety with electricity, and the conducting/insulating properties of materials.
