Community

At the heart of Loreto College Marryatville beats the vibrant pulse of its community—a living, breathing entity that transcends mere physical boundaries to embody the very essence of connection and support.

Over the last fortnight two events have captured the very best of our community:  The Golden Gala evening and Pink and Green Day.  These events in many ways could not be more different, yet both provided an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the very best of Loreto College Marryatville.

Our Gala event saw more than 240 people come together for a noble cause – to celebrate and fundraise for the renovation of our cherished Cotters’ Green turf oval.  For generations, this space has served as more than just a patch of grass; it has been the canvas upon which countless memories have been painted, the arena where dreams have been forged, the outdoor classroom where the lessons about healthy living, competition and teamwork have been learnt, the field on which the seeds of College spirit have been planted and cultivated and the sanctuary where friendships have blossomed.

Because of the generous support of those present at the Gala as well as those bidding and supporting the evening beyond the room, we raised just over $20K.  This will allow the College to begin preparing for the renovation, which is due for completion at the end of January 2025.

And today the College has been garlanded with the bright hues of pink and green.  We indulged in pink and green donuts, enjoyed the camaraderie of the BBQ and netball match (thank you Rostrevor College for joining us!) and reveled in the sea of colours that symbolise hope and unity, providing us with the opportunity to celebrate and remember Ava Lynch.  The bright and beautiful soul that graced our playground, whose laughter echoed through the corridors and classrooms, and whose presence left an indelible mark on our hearts.

These events definitely bring to mind that Loreto College Marryatville isn't just a school; it's a sanctuary where every voice is valued, every dream is nurtured, and every heart finds its home in the embrace of a truly extraordinary community.  A community I am very proud to be part of and lead.

Wishing you a lovely long weekend.
