Elephant Toothpaste

Hands on learning with science experiments.

Our students have tailored learning experiences here at school.  They learn how to read instructions and follow them, explore measurement and learn new words to explain the activity.  After the activity they discuss the sequence of events and put the sentences in the right order.

On Tuesday we made Elephant toothpaste.  First we put hydrogen peroxide in a plastic bottle. Secondly we added food colouring and then we put in dish soap.  We added yeast, then carefully added hot water to the yeast, we swirled it together.  Then we waited for the reaction.   The mixture was foaming, it turned into mouse toothpaste not elephant toothpaste.   The foaming reaction was the best bit.
