Term 3 is an exciting time in our Library!
Term 3 in our Library is always an exciting time as we continue to explore the CBCA Notables and Shortlist books, celebrate Grandparents Day and of course, Book Week!
Please see below for details regarding these upcoming events.
Book Week celebrations: Week 5
Tuesday 20th August
On Tuesday 20th August children can come to school dressed as a favourite book character, and our annual parade will be held after lunch @ 2:15pm - more information will be shared prior to the day.
As always, the children are very excited about the parade, and we have talked at length about all of their great ideas! This year's theme 'Reading is Magic' really lends itself to a great range of magical characters and ideas!
I always ask the children to follow two simple rules when considering their costume:
- Make it a character from a book. It is Book Week after all!
- Don't ask your parents to go out and buy you a costume - have fun and get creative. Use whatever you can find around the home.
As we have done in previous years, we will be raising money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation during Book Week, and we ask children to make a gold coin donation to support this terrific organisation. Details will be provided early next term should you prefer to make an online donation.
We will also hold a Great Book Swap in Week 7 to support Indigenous Literacy Day. Details will be provided next term.
Welcome Serena Geddes!
On Tuesday 20th August we will also welcome author and illustrator Serena Geddes to our school! This is super exciting, as Serena has worked on books such as the Lulu Bell series, the Pepper Creek Ponies series, the fantastic picture books We Are Matildas and Hope is the Spark and an upcoming series featuring Australian cricket captain, Pat Cummins!
This is sure to be great fun!

Your support in reminding children to bring their library bag and books on the timetabled day is very much appreciated. Regular reading is so important, and we are very lucky to have a great collection of books available.
A library bag is required to protect our books from damage.
I do have a number of 'loaner' bags which students may borrow, but could I ask that these are returned promptly the following week so they may be used by other students. If you come across one of these at home, could you please send them back to school.
Yours in Love and Service,
Verity Temple
