Specialist Feature News: Science

Selemat Siang,

This week in Science our 1/2 students have recorded their final results for the Sand vs. Soil experiment. We observed the samples from each class and found that soil seemed to work best for most classes, except for 1/2E who managed to have their seeds grow equally in both sand and soil! After 4 weeks, some of our plants are almost 10cm high!

The students also got to decorate their own pots this week, and plant their own seeds to take home. It was great to see the creativity taking place in each of the 1/2 classes!

Our 5/6s have been working on their Solar System Investigations, and there are some amazing student-led research projects coming together. Students have selected a topic based on our learning this term that has sparked their curioisty; including planets, stars, galaxies, unique space events, Indigenous astronomy, important space inventions such as telescopes and rockets, astronomers and astronauts... the list goes on!

The students have done an incredible job channelling their zest and creativity to present their findings in an engaging way. Working independently or collaboratively, they are creating models, dioramas, posters, videos, interactive quizzes, detailed slides, podcasts, minecraft builds and more. It is wonderful to see the students engaged and building their research and presentation skills, and we can't wait to see all of the final products in week 11!

Have a wonderful week everyone!
