Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break. As we step into Term 3, I am delighted to share that we have had a very calm, productive, and engaging start to the new term. Our students have returned with enthusiasm, ready to embrace the exciting learning opportunities ahead.

The staff and I are looking forward to a term filled with growth, achievement, and memorable experiences for our students. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's learning journey throughout the 2024 academic school year.

Sacred Heart Students Shine at Annual Tatura Lion's Club Public Speaking Event

We are thrilled to share the outstanding success of our Sacred Heart students at the Annual Tatura Lion's Club Public Speaking Event, held at the Anglican Church Hall on Tuesday, 23rd July. Congratulations to Urijah Gilboy, Lola Mackenzie, Mia Serhan-Baker, Mia Longbottom, and Olivia Talarico for advancing to the Tatura competition after excelling at our local school level.

Their families and our entire school community are immensely proud of their achievements on the night. It takes a strong nerve and confidence to speak in front of a room of strangers, and these students displayed exceptional poise and eloquence.

A special congratulations to Olivia Talarico, who won the Year 3/4 competition, and Urijah Gilboy, who triumphed in the Year 5/6 competition. We wish both Olivia and Urijah all the very best as they proceed to the next stage of the Lion's Public Speaking event in August.

Well done to all our talented speakers!

Collectable Cards at School

Unfortunately, there have been numerous incidents involving damaged, lost, or taken collectible cards during the end of last term and the beginning of Term 3. These incidents have caused significant distress among students and parents alike.

After careful consideration, we have decided that, as of Monday, 15th July, all collectible cards will no longer be allowed at school. This decision has not been made lightly. We understand that many students enjoy collecting and trading these cards, and that parents have made considerable investments in these collections. However, the challenges and disruptions that these incidents have caused necessitate this step.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we implement this change. Our primary concern is to maintain a safe and focused learning environment for all students.

Cold Winter Days

With the winter chill still upon us, we remind you to ensure your children come to school dressed warmly. A number of students have been arriving with jumpers and warm clothing, which is fantastic. However, our lost property bin contains several unnamed jumpers. If your child is missing their school jumper, please check the lost property bin to reclaim it.

Sacred Heart Parents & Friends Group

I'm excited to share that following our recent School Advisory Council meeting, we are exploring the idea of re-introducing a Parents & Friends group. This group would play a vital role in supporting our school community and organising fundraising events. We believe that school cultures flourish when there is a strong, positive, and inclusive parent community. Unfortunately due to technical difficulties, this form was not distributed over the holidays.  A revised survey will be distributed early next week to gather your valuable input. Your feedback is crucial, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on this initiative.  Some early thinking is a fundraising event known as a 'Colour Run' to be scheduled in Term 4.

Mass Attendance - Traditions & Reverence

As part of our whole school focus, we emphasise the importance of respecting the rich traditions and Catholic Church etiquette while attending Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Upon entering the church, you will often hear soft music playing, serving as a reminder for both parents and students to maintain reverence when entering and exiting.

We kindly remind parents that no food or drinks are permitted in the church, with the exception of water. At Sacred Heart, we deeply value and cherish the rich traditions of the Catholic Church, and we thank all our families for their continued support in upholding these sacred practices.

Shade Sail Construction - Update

Unfortunately, the contractors working on the Shade Sail structural replacement experienced mechanical problems resulting in  a delay to the replacement of the structural supports.  A new timeline has been set for the Term 3 School Holidays with the final fit-out/installation of the Shade Sails to be complete by approximately Week 3 of Term 4.  Although this is not ideal, the Shade Sail replacement will be installed prior to the hotter weather normally experienced late term 4.

God bless and enjoy the rest of your week and upcoming weekend.
