Religious Education
Please see this invitation to a special celebration for Fr. Michael Shadbolt.
On the first day of term, our staff had two wonderful professional learning sessions.
The first was with Roseanne who inspired us about the story of Christmas on the Streets. Christmas on the Streets came to fruition in Melbourne, Australia in December 2016. Since its establishment, through grassroots street outreach, annual events, school workshops and interstate programs, COTS has led hundreds of volunteers around the world in supporting tens of thousands of people in need across Australia as well as fundraised for a number of international campaigns in countries including Cambodia, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nepal, Philippines, Uganda, Malawi and Kenya.
Their tagline is Homeless not Hopeless, and our staff were challenged on how they can see the needs of our community and raise our children, and families up. We have some great supports running, but we are always willing help. If your family needs help, please come and have a confidential chat. The focus will come through to our students with explicit teaching of Catholic Social Teaching Principles.
We also had Musician Gen Bryant. Gen is local to the area. Last year, Gen was selected as the only English speaking singer to perform for the Pope as part of the World Youth Day Event.
Gen had our staff singing from the start, and challenging us to reflect on our own faith journey's and how they drive us forward in our work. Gen will be coming to perform for our students on the 29th of August. We will invite our parents to come along and be inspired by Gen's performance.
