Principals News
Dear Families,
Firstly, thankyou to all the families who have reached out about Bern, our beloved office administration. Bern and her family appreciate it. As a school community, we will walk alongside Bern through her recovery. Bern is determined to get back to work!
We have already had many cases of illness on return. This winter season has been particularly bad. We appreciate the challenge, but also the cooperation of families who keep their children home when unwell.
We have noticed that a number of families have changed emails, phone numbers or even addresses. This is critical information to keep your child safe. If you child is unwell, or in case of an emergency, we need to be able to reach you. If you have changed any details, can you please let the office know.
We have a special celebration next Sunday 4th August, at the Parish 11am Mass, to recognise Father Michael Shadbolt's 60th year Anniversary of priesthood. Fr Shadbolt is revered for the work he did with the parish and the school, and he was a strong advocate of the School and Parish being one community. To celebrate Fr Shadbolt's achievements, our school will be putting on a BBQ for a special 11am Mass on the 4th of August.
I am hoping to have some parent volunteers to help cook the BBQ on the morning of the 4th of August from 10am. If you can assist, please come and see me directly. It will be a great way to meet some new people.
Our Prep enrolments are beginning to fill, so if you have anyone that still needs to enroll, please let us know asap. Our numbers are well up on past years at this stage, which is pleasing. Our next Open Day in the 14th of August.
We welcomed 4 new students over the holidays with Glen, Tiffany, AJ and Himansha starting at our school. Welcome to all those families.
We have been meeting with many community partners. Last week we meet with the team at Casey Council Playgroups, and they have a great playgroup at Autumn Place on Friday mornings. They can also assist connect with any specialist services you may need.
We'd love to see parents come along to our Assembly on Monday at 3pm. It is in the Library. We will have some junior students performing a piece from Performing Arts class.
Friday 26th July is the Feast of Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, Jesus' Grandparents. We know how important Grandparents are in our lives, yet we also know, that many have had their Grandparents pass on. Their legacy lives within all of us. We live to honour this legacy. I have a favourite song from the Lion King that makes me reflect on my own Grandparent's who have all passed.
Translated , the lyrics are:
Yeah lion, it's not difficult
Hear these words and stay
Be optimistic
He lives in you
You're alive too
He's always watching
Everything we see
He Lives In You
So as we move forward, let us dedicate our lives and the difference that we can make, to those who have come before us, or are still with us. It is also a reminder that our children are always watching....what lessons are they learning?
