Year 5/6C Buddying up with ELC Class 3 and 1B
Our 5/6C students have been actively building relationships with their ELC Class 3 and 1B buddies, creating a nurturing and collaborative school community. Through various activities, we strengthen these connections and support the younger students in their learning and social development.
ELC Class 3 Activities:
- Reconciliation flags: Our 5/6C students helped their ELC buddies create beautiful reconciliation flags, promoting understanding and unity.
- Library: We enjoyed a shared reading session, where older students guided and encouraged their younger buddies to explore and enjoy books.
- Craft and outdoor play: We engaged in creative crafts and outdoor play, building camaraderie and teamwork.
1B Class activities:
- Easter-cross-weaving: Students worked with their 1B buddies to weave leaves into Easter crosses, fostering creativity and cultural understanding.
- Easter rotations with Mr Overweel: We participated in a variety of Easter-themed activities led by Mr Overweel to celebrate and learn together.
- Reconciliation bookmarks and Kaurna words: Creating reconciliation bookmarks and learning Kaurna words, we deepened our appreciation for Indigenous culture and language.
- All About Me Letters and Reading: Our students exchanged letters and read with their 1B buddies, sharing stories and building personal connections.
Supporting the younger students and being role models in their learning and friendships is an important part of our school culture. Our 5/6C students are not only enhancing their own leadership skills but also making a positive impact on their buddies’ school experience.
