Wellbeing and Engagement

What a wonderful year it has been!

We encourage all of our parents and carers to take a moment and reflect on what went well across the school year. What were the special moments? The highlights? The small things that had your child coming home from school smiling?

We feel like we have a lot to be grateful for in 2023. At Great Ryrie PS we have continued with the implementation of the SWPBS framework across the whole school with students being acknowledged for being Respectful, Responsible Learners. The children absolutely loved the SWPBS whole school reward where they got to chose which activity they participated in (outside disco was a hit) and enjoyed a lollypop!

We have further implemented the URStrong program across the whole school to develop student resilience and confidence. This year we have engaged families in programs to build student resilience by providing information sessions for URStrong, as well as other wellbeing initiatives, and using the URStrong diaries from Year 3-6 to reflect on student wellbeing.

We have identified how regular classroom meetings could be structured and delivered each fortnight. We have also implemented weekly student wellbeing check ins to collect and analyse wellbeing data at regular intervals.

A highlight for us was Wellbeing Week. The purpose of our Wellbeing Week was to provide our students with the knowledge and tools to manage their own mental health and wellbeing. The activities we planned focused on the PERMA model which includes five elements essential to human wellbeing and flourishing.

We have loved 2023 and look forward to all of the amazing things 2024 will bring.

Enjoy your Christmas and New Years, and we will see you back here at the end of January next year!
