Empowered Learners @ LNPS
Aiming High
The foundation of expectations at LNPS is firmly grounded in our core values of Respect, Honesty, Pursuit of Excellence, and Care and Concern.
At LNPS, our vision is for every student to cultivate learner qualities aligned with our values. Our overarching objective is to see LNPS students embody the characteristics of empowered learners and as individuals who consistently set high standards, work towards their learning objectives, recognise success, and actively engage with feedback.
These learner qualities encompass being:
The Aiming High initiative at LNPS is instrumental in allowing our students to manifest these learner qualities, recognised by our school community as indispensable skills for all students upon completing their schooling at LNPS. Embraced across all year levels (R-6), Aiming High at LNPS encompasses a spectrum of learning experiences where students are encouraged and empowered to take charge of their own learning journey.
Through Aiming High at LNPS, students have myriad opportunities to showcase school values and learner qualities throughout their learning journey. Our dedicated staff design explicit and informal learning experiences, fostering an environment where students can evolve as empowered learners by assuming ownership of their learning and accomplishments.
We are further excited to introduce "Aiming High Expectations," a new framework that is set to shape a positive and thriving learning environment for everyone at LNPS. These expectations outline essential behaviours aligned to our school values, serving as a replacement for conventional learner agreements. Aiming High Expectations emphasises positive conduct, aiming to foster a respectful and dynamic school community.
Throughout the year, in particular, in these beginning weeks, our teachers are actively engaged in explicitly teaching these expectations to all students. Through collaborative lesson planning, our teachers have unpacked and discussed with students a shared understanding and language surrounding our expectations. This includes a detailed exploration of what these expectations look like in practice, focusing particularly on the behaviours we anticipate.
