Students have been learning about what an acknowledgement of country is. Here are some examples of class acknowledgements around our school!

Grade 6
Grade 5
In Grade 3/4 this week, we have been learning all about persuasive writing! On Monday, some classes were shocked to discover that their chairs had all gone on strike from not being treated properly! Our 3/4s wrote some very convincing letters to convince the chairs to let us use them again. We have also been strongly debating whether or not the Big Bad Wolf was actually guilty of blowing the 3 Little Pigs houses down. We have had lots of great persuasive discussions and reasons to support both sides of the argument!
In Maths we have been doing lots of revision work on place value, time and probability.
Our Kid Nation groups have all got off to a flying start also! We have been learning the importance of teamwork in order to achieve our goals. 3/4B showed some wonderful resilience and communication as their teams tried to make the tallest card tower.
Grade 1
This week in topic the grade ones have been working on finding strategies to help them regulate their emotions to the green zone. We have made our own tool box to help us.
In Grade ¾ recently we have been incredibly busy setting up our devices and improving our organisational skills.
Reading:
In Reading, we have been learning how about Close Reading to find the Main Idea within a text. We have been reading texts with tricky words multiple times to discover new meanings and new learnings.
Writing:
In Writing, we have been identifying the structure of and writing persuasive texts about the timely topic of ‘Books are better than technology,’ very relevant considering some technology issues we’ve had setting the kids up onto their devices.
Maths:
In Maths, we have been learning about Number and Place Value, through applying our skills in small group games using hands on materials and discussion to share our learning.
Integrated:
During Integrated Studies, we have been working together in teams during our KIDNATION unit to help with communication skills, teamwork, perseverance, and resilience.
As you can tell, we’ve had a crazy and super start to the year and look forward to our sporting events coming up throughout the term.
