Year 6 News

From Elly, Year 6 teacher

Farewell Year 6

And just like that its the end of the year.

Where did those years go?

Over the last few weeks, Year 6 were busy creating engaging math board games for their Prep buddies. They celebrated their last ‘get together’ by playing the games together. Many of the Year 6 commented afterwards that they had just as much fun as the Preps!

To begin our ‘Farewell Fun’ week, we spent the morning in Errol St on a local scavenger hunt. Did you know that on that day there were twenty croissants on display in the Bread Club window?

The afternoon was spent on the oval participating in fun and competitive group activities- grade against grade. The tug-o-war was fierce!

Last Wednesday students marked the end of Primary School with a farewell celebration involving speeches, certificates, dancing, singing and food prepared by our cooking teachers Erin and Kristen and NMPS student chefs.

Below are just a few examples of the impressive speeches presented by some of our wonderful Year Sixes on the night.

Good evening family and friends.

Year 6! We have finally graduated from primary school!

Wow, this year has been such an honour thanks to everyone who has helped me on my journey throughout primary school. I can’t believe it’s over!

I’m really going to miss NMPS, but I’m also excited for what’s to come!

I’ve built lifelong friendships, created so many memories and will take all of the experiences into the future!

Congratulations everyone.

Good luck and I wish everybody the best.

Hi! It’s easy to say that my time at NMPS has been a bang.

Although I, along with several others, are sad to leave this wonderful place. Looking back on our seven-year journey, a sense of accomplishment, wistfulness and self-pride flows within like a crystal-clear river. I remember all the way back in Year 2 when I had my very first camp for two days at science works, I remember remote learning and all the friends I made during that time. Many might not think highly or pleasingly at the era of lockdown, but to me, it’s a huge part of my life, it was as surprising as a roller coaster and as fun as one too!

I also would like to tell you all about how special NMPS is to me. I have lived most of my life going to this incredible school. Here I made many friends and memories. Up ahead, after today, we, the year sixes will ascend into high school. Things will never be the same. So, I ask all of you to do something, not just for me but for yourselves too: enjoy the rest of your time at NMPS, my time here has been great, and I hope all of yours will be too. Especially Year 5s. Next year, in just a few weeks, you will be running the school. Don’t worry, the teachers overly exaggerated that. Long story short, enjoy primary school, all those things that make you unhappy are not worth your time.

Year 6 we finally made it. I know it felt like an eternity but it's over. It truly saddens me to say goodbye to my friendships I have made along the way and to my teachers that have helped me through my learning journey but I'm sure this is just the start of many more exciting adventures throughout my life.

I'm starstruck on how fast this year has really gone but I can assure you I have enjoyed every moment of it. Without a doubt I wouldn't trade any moment of this year for anything. NMPS means the world to me. I can't believe in just one week I will walk past this place and realise that this is no longer the school I go to and it will just be labelled as my primary school.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me within this school especially all my friends, they have surrounded me with happiness and kindness this year could’ve never been the same without all of you here.

Our final fun day was a day at GO CLIMB where we challenged ourselves with a round of mini golf and some awesome climbing walls.

What a week, what a term, what a year!!

Congratulations to all our Year 6 students on a successful final year of Primary School. Exciting times await!
