Numeracy

In the past fortnight, Year 1 has revisited all their favourite math games played this year, such as Snap and Salute.

Recently we played a new game called Back to Back with Linking Cubes. Students play in partners for this game with a barrier between them. One player makes a shape with the blocks, then they need to give instructions of how they made it to their partner, the aim is for their partner to make the same thing as they have. The students had a lot of fun with this activity.

We’ve also completed a Number Project, where the students select a number and get creative with it, such as writing it in different fonts, writing different number sentences with the number, writing a worded question that includes the number.

Literacy

Students published some of their best writings in semester 2 to take home. It has been amazing to see how much improvement each student has made in their writings this year!

As we come to a close of 2023, the Year 1 teachers want to say a huge thank you to all the parent helpers this year. You have made things easier; our excursions wouldn’t be the same without you.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
