Deputy Principal
LunchFox Lunch Orders
Commencing Friday 23 February
We are excited to announce that we will be launching a new school lunch service from next Friday 23 February. We have partnered with LunchFox: an award-winning service that allows parents to order healthy school lunches from local cafes. Our school receives 5% from every order as fundraising.
We have linked with a fabulous local food vendor called Good Food Grazing, with orders being taken every Friday. You have until 8pm on Thursday evenings to place your orders.
The LunchFox app is available to download now from the app store. Create an account and set up profiles for every child you plan to order for. Search for 'Sacred Heart Primary School' in the school field and select your child's classroom from the dropdown menu.
You will also see an option to add allergy and dietary information to your child's profile. This will always be displayed against your child's order, making the information clear and concise for the chef preparing your meal.
All orders will be individually bagged and delivered to school in time for lunch. Menus are completely customisable: you have the option of ordering an entire lunchbox of food, or simply selecting one or two small snack items. The food is prepared in a gluten, wheat and oat free kitchen, with any regular bread orders being prepared elsewhere. Everything on the menu is nut free.
If your child is unwell, or you need to change the date of an order, you can do this up until the order cut off time on Thursday. Simply tap on the order from the home screen and select a new date. The setting page on your app has links to contact the LunchFox team directly if you run into any problems.

A huge thank you to Caroline Reid for researching and liaising with a number of different companies to find the most suitable one for our school community.
Please find instructions on how to use the LunchFox app and the current menu.

Christian Meditation
Meditation has always been part of the Christian tradition. In the world today there has been a renewed interest in the practice of meditation as a form of silent personal prayer. This could be due to the increased need for silence and stillness in the midst of our busy lives. Christian meditation is understood as the focusing of ‘attention beyond thought and imagination’ and leading to a ‘still, wakeful presence to the reality of God’.
Why do we meditate at Sacred Heart?
Christian Meditation:
•Reduces stress and increases our sense of well-being and harmony.
•Leads to increased self-knowledge and self-acceptance.
•Deepens our personal relationship with our God.
•Helps us to know and follow Christ.
•Increases our desire to build community with others.
When do we meditate at Sacred Heart?
At Sacred Heart Kew, our students participate in Christian Meditation on Tuesday and Friday afternoons at 1:50pm. The timing varies for each year level and is based on 1minute for each chronological year e.g. 5 year olds participate in 5 minutes of meditation.
How do we meditate at Sacred Heart?
Choose one or combine these processes to help prepare students to meditate.
Breathing
1. Sit comfortably (on a chair or the floor) and close your eyes lightly. Pause.
2. Listen to the sounds outside the room. Pause for 15 seconds.
3. Listen to the sounds inside the room. Pause for 15 seconds.
4. Become aware of your breathing. Pause for 15 seconds.
5. Now follow your breath as it comes in and goes out. Listen to it.
6. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest as you breathe. Pause for 30 seconds.
Noticing Sounds
1. Sit comfortably (on a chair or the floor) and close your eyes lightly. Pause.
2. Notice the most distant sounds you can hear and listen to them. 15 seconds.
3. Notice the sounds you can hear just outside the room. 15 seconds.
4. Now, notice the sounds inside the room you are in. What sounds can you hear now? Pause for 30 seconds.
5. Finally move inside yourself. What sounds can you hear? Can you feel your heart beating? Pause for 30 seconds.
Body Awareness
1. Sit comfortably (on a chair or the floor) and close your eyes lightly. Pause.
2. Beginning with your feet, slowly/gradually move through each section of the body, step by step – e.g. ‘Be aware of your feet on the floor, notice them, how do they feel? Pause.
3. Alternatively, you can simply name each section of the body. E.g. ‘Be aware of your feet on the floor, put all your attention into your feet … feel your toes, are they cramped in your shoes? Do they ache? Are they cold? Pause after mentioning each section of the body.
4. Be particularly aware of your thighs, spine, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, jaw and face muscles.
5. Quickly go over the whole body again to notice areas of tension and tightness, and if necessary, re-address any areas of tension. Breathe into areas of tightness.
