From the Principal

Ms Noelene Hussey

Dear Parents,

Greetings and a warm welcome to St Annes for the commencement of the 2024 school year.

It gives me great joy to share with you that our children had a very successful first day at school today.  We extend our gratitude to you for your support in preparing your child for this significant day in your child’s life. The discussions, the excitement of wearing a new uniform and carrying a school bag for the first time were well worth it. Our 2024 Prep children arrived today very excited knowing now they are ‘big school kids’. This was heartening for myself and the Prep staff. I was very impressed with the way our 2024 Prep children transitioned into school life.

I hope that you and your child’s experience at school is a positive one where you will all meet new friends, celebrate their achievements and embrace any challenges you may face.

Our children are at the centre of all we do at St Anne’s and their wellbeing and development is our primary focus. We acknowledge that each Prep child is a unique individual with their own distinct learning needs. Our Prep teachers will design many learning experiences that will assist your child to learn and achieve lots of positive outcomes. This commitment extends to all our teachers who strive to ensure all our children make progress and succeed. They enable our children to develop a deep understanding about our world and how we can navigate it  effectively. Our teachers will encourage our children to think, work creatively, explore and experience, plan, reflect, communicate and collaborate.

Your active involvement in your child’s learning at St Anne’s is crucial and we invite you to join us in creating an effective learning environment that is characterised by mutual respect. There are many ways you can help your child to thrive at school;

  • Attending school and parish liturgies, masses and faith nights
  • Establishing regular contact with your child’s teacher
  • Reading to your child and listening to your child read
  • Encouraging your child to take increasing responsibility for his/her learning and organisational skills
  • Encouraging healthy eating, sufficient sleep and regular exercise
  • Celebrating your child’s successes
  • Attending school events, meetings and information sessions
  • Ensuring you read newsletters and messages so you are aware of what is happening at St Anne’s

Should you have any concerns or questions about your child’s adjustment to school, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher as a first point of contact.  Our dedicated team, including Jade Salpietro (Student Wellbeing Leader), Bianca Cutajar (Literacy Leader), Jill Marr (Numeracy Leader), Leona Dean (Teaching and Learning Leader) and Cath Woodhouse (Religious Education Leader) is here to assist you in various ways and can answer any questions you have about your child's development.

I look forward to working with you and watching your child develop and grow over the coming year.

Take care
