Emmaus FIRST LEGO League Team triumphs at Nationals

On 15 December, 10 members of our talented First Lego League team competed in the FIRST Australia National Championship – South in Ulverstone, Tasmania. After winning first place in the regional South SA competition they were ready to take on the national stage.

At the championship, amidst 42 top teams from South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania, our students showcased exceptional skills. Their hard work in robot scoring earned them an impressive equal-third place overall and first among school-based groups!

The journey was filled with fun stops: Anvers Chocolate Factory treats, platypus sightings at Tasmania Arboretum, witnessing the ‘Spirit of Tasmania’ from Devonport Lighthouse and Geocached on beaches.

A heartfelt thanks to our Teacher Coaches Mel Zybeck, Georgina Lampard and David Chu and student coaches: Isaac P (Year 10), and Joseph A (Year 11), and to Paul, Terri, and Ruby V for their unwavering support. A big shoutout to Defence SA for their sponsorship that went towards the airfares and Leighland Christian School - Ulverstone and Burnie and Camp Clayton for hosting and accommodation.

Also thank you to the Emmaus leadership team, Admin staff and parents for supporting and organising this opportunity for our students!

Please join us in celebrating the achievements of students Caitlin, Nicholas, Matthew, Charlie, Hudson, Nathaniel, Michael, Caleb, Finn, and Jacob. Your hard work and team spirit have made us all proud!
