Around the School

6DB

This term in Science, 6DB have been investigating marvellous micro-organisms. Students  participated in hands-on, shared investigations of the yeast micro-organism. We explored how yeast feeds on sugar, producing carbon dioxide and with no place to go but up, the gas slowly inflated the balloon. We compared the similarity of this process to how bread rises.

4S

The last few weeks, we have been learning a new game called 'Gitja'. We have been inspired by the original Koko-yellanji nation story about Gitja (the moon) and have been working on adapting it slightly to make it our own. This has included providing clarity around new situations that arise in the game, updating the rules of the game based on those new situations and making sure we always finish each round with a handshake and a positive affirmation like 'good game.'

The 4S students have really enjoyed learning this game and have excelled at making sure the game is fair for everyone by taking turns, having a clear set of rules that everyone knows and giving everyone a voice (voting system) about the new rules we implement.

2H

2H have been creating characters - thinking about appearance, personality and their emotions.
