Hi Everyone, how are you? I hope you are well, staying cool and you were not impacted by the storm last week. I know many of you like the heat, but I am not a fan so roll on Autumn!
Parents & Carers Morning Tea - Come and join us, make some friends, share your ideas and learn about topics that interest you. We meet the first Friday of the month (except during school holidays) so our next morning tea is next Friday 1st March from 9am to 10am at Croydon SDS. We have Brooke, our Occupational Therapist speaking about the Zones of Regulation program that we are introducing at school to help your child understand emotions and how to deal with them. We would love to see you. Below are the dates of the morning teas for the year, I hope you will come along.
Bank Accounts—Does your child have their own bank account? Getting a bank account for a child with a disability can be tricky, especially if they are not able to sign or write their name or part of their name. It is easier if the child is younger than 14 years of age. The reason I ask is, once your child is 16 years of age, they are eligible to apply for the Disability Support Pension and the Pensioner Education Supplement from Centrelink. So they will need a bank account for the money to be deposited in and this is best if it is in their name.
If you would like to discuss this, please speak with your bank, or give me a call and I will tell you more.
Take care, Linda
