Parents' Association News & Events

Dear MPS Community,

On behalf of the Parents Association (PA), we wanted to officially welcome everyone to another exciting year at MPS, introduce our wonderful volunteer members and take the opportunity to outline the role of the PA.

The PA is a group of volunteers coming together to represent the voice for the wider parent body by working closely with the Principal and School Council, while most importantly creating a positive and engaging environment for students, teachers, and parents alike. Essentially, we strive to ensure the overall well-being of the school community for all.

How do we do this?

Parent Participation

We actively encourage the participation of all parents in the life of the school and the education of their children. We believe that active parental involvement and commitment to community culture is crucial for the success of our students.

Communication

We provide opportunities for parents to get to know each other and stay informed about their child’s school life. By fostering open communication channels, we aim to create a strong sense of community within the school.

School Policy

We contribute to proposals on school policy and other educational issues. By engaging with the Principal and School Council, we ensure that the voices of parents are heard in decision-making processes. The School Council is then charged with actioning policy and changes.

Fundraising

We work hard to raise funds for the benefit of the school. These funds are used to support various initiatives, such as extracurricular activities and infrastructure improvements - all aimed at enhancing the overall learning environment. Most recently we have been able to fund the incredible library redevelopment enjoyed by all MPS students.

We are thrilled to introduce your PA for 2024. We have included each members' classes, to help make it easier to identify the best member that might be helpful to you.

We are here as your representatives, so chatting to a member of the PA is a great place to start with any concerns that you have, or ideas that can help contribute to the school community. Everyone within this group is generously donating their time, so please

remember that we are all here doing our best.

Get Involved:

We encourage all parents to get involved in the Parents Association and play an active role in shaping the future of our school. Whether it’s attending meetings, volunteering at events, or simply staying informed, your participation is invaluable to us.

Events in 2024

Traditionally, the PA has been responsible for organising and running events throughout the year, with the tireless efforts of volunteers. However, we recognised that it can sometimes fall on the same group of volunteers for multiple events.

With this in mind, we are restricting our approach so that each year level will now be responsible for delivering one of our great events, facilitated by a PA lead and your class reps.

This will streamline our efforts and provide an opportunity for the wider community to actively engage in the planning and execution of events.

Your class reps will let you know which event your year level will be taking on.

Together, let's make this year's PA events truly memorable and impactful for our school community. Thank you for your continued support and involvement.

Finally, to better understand the needs and expectations of the parent body we will be sharing a voluntary and anonymous survey with you all next week. We would be really grateful if as many as you as possible can respond this when it is shared.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to join our team, please don’t hesitate to reach out at malvernprimarypa@gmail.com or of course come and find any of us for a chat during drop off or pick up times.

From Brig and Jess and the entire PA

Labelling

Please label all uniform items, lunch boxes and drink bottles.  Labels need to clearly show your child’s first name + surname or first initial + surname if you can’t fit the full detail on the tag.
