Macleod College Performing Arts
Here at Macleod College Performing Arts, we have had some amazing successes in terms 3 & 4.
In August, The Musical, Grease, was a resounding success, and I am so proud of the way that all the cast and crew strove for greater heights and achievements. They all demonstrated the school values of ‘Achieve, Respect and Connect’.
Thursday evening September 12 was the Macleod College Music Academy’s (MCMA) solo and small group performance evening. Which showcased the fine talents of many of our students.
Last week on October 15, all the Year 07 students and MCMA students performed in the Arts Gala. This is an annual event, which highlights all the Arts that take place across the school. This event was a fantastic opportunity to see what the Year 7’s have achieved in music this year.
I would also like to take this opportunity, to encourage you to consider continuing instrumental music lessons at Macleod College in 2025. The Music Academy is Macleod’s flagship program, and we are extremely lucky to have gained funding from the Northern Tunnel Program and Kate Thwaites, Federal Member for Jaga Jaga to refurbish the Thompson Carter Wing and Music department.
Listen Here! SongMakers
As a part of the SongMakers Songwriting Workshop, we were privileged to have three musician/producers (Joelistics, Reggie Banks, and Seetali Banks) working with some of our music students over two days.
In four groups, the students wrote a song in the first day and recorded on the second day, which resulted in four outstanding recordings.
Congratulations, Class of 2024 Music Academy Students.
What a sensational year you have had. Countless amazing memories were made this year, including:
- Phillip Island Tour
- Combined School Big Band Concert
- Austrian Club
- Generations In Jazz
- Grease (Musical)
- Victorian Schools Music Festival - where Big Band received Platinum
- Spring Arts Gala
I want to thank you all for your outstanding leadership in the Music Academy. Special acknowledgement must be made to Genevieve Waingold and Klaudia Ugrai the 2024 Music Captains. Looking forward to hearing all the amazing musical things that you have in your future.
I wish to introduce the 2025 Performing Arts Captain, Harry Barnes. I'm looking forward to another fantastic year of music making.

Thank you to all who participated at the spring arts gala on 15 October.
Well done to all the bands who played, it was great to see all of you perform, you should all be very proud of yourselves. We can hardly believe that this was the last performance of the year, and we hope to see you playing with the Music Academy next year.
