Colac Division Basketball

Well done to the two teams that represented Sacred Heart in the Colac Division Basketball Tournament, yesterday at Bluewater. The girls team were defeated by St Mary’s in the Grandfinal by 5 points and the boys were defeated by St Mary’s by 2 minutes. 

A big thank you to Mr Rieniets for coaching the team and to the parents who assisted with scoring on the day. A big thank you to referees Harmony and Nate Parker, Izaac and Ashlin Tate, Lennie Laurie, Reagan Oborne and Taj Shaw. We are very grateful for your help on the day. Thanks to the parents, guardians and grandparents who supported the day.

 

 

 

Geelong Royal Show

Congratulations to Zoe Medley for her fantastic achievements with her beautiful horse at the Geelong Royal Show last Thursday. Zoe was awarded 6th place in the Rider Class (judged on how well the rider looks and rides - Zoe accidently forget her gloves, oops!), 3rd in Child’s pony (judged on how the horse behaves and how well they behave for a child), 1st in Owner rider (judged on how well the rider and horse work together), and 5th in the Open Saddle Pony (how well the horse looks and how it works under the riders guidance). What a great day out for Zoe!

 

State Athletics

Good luck to the following students who will compete in the State Athletics on Wednesday 6th November at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park - Alexis Perkins, Regan Smart, Nash Charles, Phoebe Robb, Sophie Wheadon and Asha McNaughton. We hope they have a fantastic day.

T-20 Cricket & Hot Shots Tennis Trials

Interested students in Years 5 and 6 are currently trialing for the summer sports events of T-20 Cricket and Hot Shots Tennis. 

 

LAPS

Once again we were lucky to have Kelly Costin back from the Little Athletics Program for Schools (LAPS) to educate the students on the many skills that are offered at Little Athletics including running, jumping and throwing. Kelly worked with many of our students last Thursday. Colac’s Little Athletics program is on each Saturday at the Colac Central Reserve. 

 

Year 4 Swimming Program

Well done to all the Year 4 students who participated in the swimming program at Bluewater. A big thank you to the teachers and parents who supported this very worthwhile program. Swimming is a skill for life.

 

State Lawn Bowls Championships

On Wednesday 30th October, the following students will participate in the State Lawn Bowls Championships at Sunbury Bowling Club (Club Sunbury, 49 Riddell Road, Sunbury) – Nash Charles, Natalie Farquharson, Max Mitchell, Silas Walsh, Bodhi Baker and Dusty McCrimmon. We wish these students all the best.

Information will be sent home via PAM closer to the event.

 

Colac Division Golf Tournament

The new date for the Colac Division Golf Tournament is on Friday 15th November at the Colac Golf Club. The day will commence at 9:15am and finish at 1:15pm. All students who were in the earlier tournament that we had to cancel (due to bad weather), please remember that you do not have to pay your $5 again.

If there are any new students in Years 5 and 6 who would like to participate in a modified 9 course game of golf please see Ms Lynch for an entry form. New students who enter the tournament must have an adult to walk around the course with them. The adult responsibilities include safety, etiquette and scoring where necessary. 

Please Note: We must have 1 adult to every 3 children, so you may be able to make an arrangement with friends. These helpers must have a current Working With Children Check. Interested students can collect an entry form at the school gym. The cost for the day is $5.00.

For all students who were already enrolled in the golf tournament, can you please complete the PAM permission form again. Thanks for your co-operation.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are football, soccer, basketball and cricket.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is soccer.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Soccer is my favourite sport because it is a great game and I get to play with my friends.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I scored the winning point in basketball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my communication. I am good at talking to my team mates when we are playing the sport.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it keeps me fit and you get to play with friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is NBA player Lamelo Ball.

8. Why are they your favourite? Lamelo Ball is my favourite sports person because he is is a young basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Charlotte Hornets basketball team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a hard working defender that is a team player.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Football is my favourite sport because I love the game and enjoy playing with my friends. 

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got my first medal in sport.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are that I am fast and I try very hard.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I like being active.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Liam Baker.

8. Why are they your favourite? Liam Baker is my favourite sports player because he is a great player for Richmond. He is a great defender and midfielder.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Richmond.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am good player and a good sport.

 

Name: Asher Sexton (Yr 4SF)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are tennis, fishing and swimming.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is tennis.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Tennis is my favourite sport because it is a fun game to play.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sports moments were when I learnt how to play tennis and I learnt how to do a tennis serve.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are my running speed, my shooting and my forehand shot in tennis.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and it gives me something to do.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sport person is Patrick Dangerfield from the Cats.

8. Why are they your favourite? Dangerfield is my favourite sports person because he is a good leader in sport and a very good football player.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? Coaches and teammates would say that I am good at dodging and running.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Football is my favourite sport because it is fun and it makes me laugh. I have fun with my friends.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I first went on stage with my dance concert.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are that I am good at shooting goals and I am very fast.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I like exercising.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Geelong footballer Tom Hawkins.

8. Why are they your favourite? Hawkins is my favourite player because he plays for Geelong Cats and they are a great team.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am fast and a very good shooter in netball.
