Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Despite the wet weather last Friday we enjoyed another very successful Grandparents Day here at school. We had hundreds of guests visiting our classrooms, running a critical eye over the artwork on display and then sharing a picnic lunch with grandchildren either in the courtyard or within the Multipurpose Room. The crowd was entertained firstly by our Grade 2 children who performed an encore of their song from last week’s assembly and then some of David Stewart’s piano students performed for our enjoyment.

Thank you to the many visitors who made the effort to come along, to the staff here who opened their classroom doors and ensured our rooms and corridors were filled with beautiful art, to the Grade 6 children who acted as such amazing hosts and who were so helpful during set up and pack up, our singers and performers and to all of our kids who made our visitors so welcome.

STAFF NEWS Parents will recall from last week’s newsletter that both Mrs Daffy and Ms Leonard are leaving us at the end of 2024.

Our panel has invited Nicole Lynch and Paul Maddern to take on the roles of Assistant Principals at Sacred Heart for 2025-26 as our new Principal settles into their new school next year. Both of these people bring a great deal of experience and expertise to these roles.

Melissa Callahan will be returning to Sacred Heart in 2025 and is going to lead our Religious Education Program in addition to her role as one of our Grade 5 teachers.

Interviews for the new Principal will be conducted later this week.

ALL SAINTS DAY AND MISSION DAY  Our school is looking forward to celebrating our Mission Day Fete this Friday 25th October.

Unfortunately this year we will not be able to celebrate Mass at school as Fr Michael has a pressing engagement. However, we will be conducting a liturgy to mark the occasion from 10:00am. After recess the children will be conducting their Mission Fete to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves. Parents and friends are welcome to join us for the day.

PREP 2025 BARBECUE   Families who have someone enrolled to begin Foundation in 2025 are invited to our Family Barbecue on Thursday 14th November. We will be conducting a brief Information Session at 6:00pm in the Multipurpose Room to be followed immediately by a delicious BBQ tea and salads prepared by our staff. Families are invited to bring their own refreshments along.

This is always a fun night and a relaxed and friendly introduction to our school to new families and a good social gathering for the rest of us.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

Our school will be closed on Monday 4th November for teachers to prepare the children’s reports and again on Tuesday 5th November as it is the Public Holiday for the Melbourne Cup.
