PE & Health
The end of Term Three saw the close of an exciting and action-packed period for the Health and Physical Education department, filled with opportunities for our students to engage in fun, challenging, and inclusive activities.
Our Year 9 students had the unique opportunity to participate in a four-week Wheelchair Basketball program, delivered in partnership with Basketball Victoria. This program was not only a fantastic way for students to develop their basketball skills but also an eye-opening experience that encouraged them to reflect on the importance of inclusivity and understanding the challenges faced by athletes with disabilities or impairments. The students demonstrated great enthusiasm, teamwork, and respect for the sport and each other, making it an incredibly rewarding experience.
Meanwhile, our Year 8 students embarked on a five-week Circus Skills unit with FunFit, where they learned a wide range of impressive circus tricks and techniques. Over the first four weeks, students dived into activities such as juggling, hula hooping, acrobalance, and mastering the diablo. Each session was filled with laughter, determination, and growth as they honed their skills. The final week saw a culmination of all their hard work, with students showcasing their newfound abilities in a fun and energetic performance, impressing their peers and teachers alike.
Overall, Term three was a fantastic success for the Health and Physical Education department, with students stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new activities, and building confidence in their physical abilities. We’re incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to what’s in store for Term Four.
