Today is our French Cultural Day and I will send you some photos in our next newsletter. The students are baking a classic French cake that comes form my region, Brittany, the land of delicious butter!

 

Is there a French cake more famous than the quatre-quart?! This dessert is served in all French homes, and has been delighting children and grown-ups alike for several generations.

 

Although its origins are unknown, the quatre-quart is a very popular recipe available in many versions. Its name meaning "four quarters" comes from the fact that only four ingredients are used to make the mixture: flour, sugar, butter and eggs. All these are in equal amounts, each one being a quarter of the whole.

 

Today there are many variants of the quatre-quart, and depending on your tastes you can add lemon zest, vanilla or chocolate. It is very popular for tea or breakfast, on its own or spread with honey or jam.

Students in 3/4L area are enjoying coding the new Sphero robots. They are attempting to move them in a controlled way, add sound and include images. 

 

3/4C displayed culinary skills during 'rice' week; the fried rice and nasi goreng were particular favourites.
