Dear Parents & Carers,
Congratulations to Blake Nichele – Recipient of the David McKenzie Award
We are delighted to announce that Blake Nichele has been awarded the prestigious David McKenzie Award for his exceptional leadership, care and kindness within our school community.
The David McKenzie Award, now in its eighth year, is named in honour of David McKenzie, a former Federal Member for Diamond Valley. Known for his dedication to social justice, education and advocacy for the vulnerable, David's legacy continues to inspire acts of kindness and compassion. Even in his 80s, he remains a steadfast advocate for our community, championing a more compassionate and just society.
Blake was chosen for his unwavering commitment to supporting and encouraging his peers. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or leading by example, Blake consistently shows thoughtfulness and empathy, making a positive impact within our school. He embodies the qualities celebrated by this award and is a role model for all students at OLHC.
We were honoured to have Vicki Ward MP, Member for Eltham, present the award to Blake at our assembly today.
Congratulations, Blake, on this well-deserved recognition! We are incredibly proud of you and grateful for the positive example you set for all of us at OLHC.
Warm regards,
Rudy Vail
