All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

On Thursday aftrernoon, over 40 Year 2 families participated in our 'Introduction to Sacraments' Faith Night. It was so lovely to see so many families spending time together, learning about the Sacraments and the children being supported along their faith journey.

Thank-you to all those parents who took the time out of their busy lives to attend our Faith Night and support their child.

At the Introduction to Sacraments Faith Night we explored that:

Sacraments are a visible sign of an invisible grace or gift from God

Sacraments are a moment when we are touched with the grace of God

Sacraments are wonderful gifts from God that show us in specific ways how God is present in our lives.

Of course, human experience of God comes about not solely through the sacraments. All sorts of experiences convey God’s presence and love and hence are in a sense ‘sacramental’. Some of these include:

  • the beauty and order of the world,
  • human friendships, our families,
  • joyful, sorrowful experiences,
  • generosity, self-giving.

Simple things like candle light, a spring morning, the scent of a daphne all speak to us of God who is the Giver of all good things. These experiences allow us to ‘touch the face of God’ and to experience the Religious Dimensions of Life which are inherent in our ordinary lives.

On Wednesday, our Year 3 students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a beautiful service where the students reverently spoke to either Fr Andrew, Fr Huy or Fr Peter about their poor choices and received the gift of Reconciliation. The children were also very excited to read the beautiful messages their parents had written to them. An etheral sense of peace and of God's love seemed to transcend the church and was felt by all. Congratulations to all those students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, the 'Friendship and Family Day BBQ Lunch' that was organized for Sunday 27th October has been CANCELLED.

As Remembrance Day approaches, our local RSL has provided us with a number of items that families can purchase in honour of our soldiers and war veterans. Our Faith and Social Justice Leaders will be visiting each class for the next 3 weeks selling these items. Alternatively, you are welcome to purchase some items from the school ofice.

Items include bagdes, pens, wrist bands and poppy pins .

Prices range between $2 to $5. Please support our local RSL.
