From the Office

The second hand uniform shop will reopen to families tomorrow, Friday, 25th October from approximately 8:45am-9:15am

If you plan to visit the shop, please park at the Springvale Road entrance and ensure you sign in as a Parent Visitor at the office.

The PFA welcomes donations but request that clothes donated are in reasonably good condition and are items from the school approved uniform supplier (instead of being generic items from Target or Kmart). Thanks in advance.

Student Absences:

Please remember to inform the school if your child is going to be late or away from school.

Teachers generally check Seesaw/email messages just before and/or immediately after school as they are busy teaching during class. As such, it is important to also advise the office of any absences so that the student roll is updated accordingly.

You can call the school office on 9560 8491 and leave a voice message or email: info@leonardsgwav.catholic.edu.au and Seesaw/email your child's classroom teacher by 8:30am.

Government legislation mandates that the school seek clarification of a student's unexplained absence after the morning roll has been taken and the child is noted as being absent. Our school will contact you as soon as practicable on the day, if your child is absent and you haven’t notified the school as to why.

Note that we do still require written notification of why a child is absent on any day.

Your child's safety and wellbeing is paramount and we trust you appreciate the importance of notifying the school of any delays or absences in a timely manner.

Medication at School

This is a reminder to parents that any medication that is to be taken by your child during school hours must be

  • in its original container and bear the original label with the name of the student and information on the dosage and time to be administered
  • accompanied by written directions including advice for storage and administration
  • within its expiry date

All medication, except asthma puffers for those students able to self administer, are required to be held in the school office.

Schools are required to obtain written advice on a Medication Authority Form which is attached herewith and also can be obtained from the office. It is recommended that the form be completed by the student’s medical/health practitioner ensuring that the medication is warranted. However, if this advice cannot be provided the principal may agree that the form can be completed by parents or carers.  It is recommended you take a copy of the attached Medication Authority when you visit the GP in anticipation of being prescribed Pharmacy dispensed medication (a course of antibiotics etc.,) for your child, that will need to be administered during school hours.

Return It Container Deposit Scheme

Most aluminium, glass, plastic and liquid paperboard (carton) drink containers between 150mL and 3 litres are eligible. You can keep the lids on as it will be recycled too. Look for the 10c mark on the drink container label. It is often located near the barcode.

Please note

1 the containers have to be a minimum size of 150ml.

2 can’t be plain milk containers (even though they say 10c that relates to other states).

3 need to be only drinking containers eg. no pancake mix containers etc., (we have found several pancake mix containers deposited at school)
