We hope familes enjoyed having a long weekend with a student free day on Monday and Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday. On Monday all our staff were busy at school, with our teachers busily writing reports that will be coming home at the end of this term.
The final Working Bee for 2024 is on November the 9th and we need your help.
Mr Bull published a list of tasks on Class Dojo for people to sign up to (I'm pretty sure that repainting the ever popular four-square courts is on the list).
You can either access the list in Dojo or click the link below to sign up for a job!
Mr Kent and Mrs Wright will be turning snags on the BBQ.
Bring your children and come to lend a hand. There's always lots of small jobs that children can help with and it really is quite a nice social afternoon. There's lots of house points for the children of families who come to help out.
This week we are sending home information regarding 2025 Parent Payment arrangements with your children.
Please look out for this important paperwork and complete and return page 5 of the document to the school office or your child’s classroom in the envelope provided.
Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students.
Since approving our parent contribution amounts Compass Education have advised us that they are increasing their fees by $5.00 per student, this is an example of how vital to our budgeting every contribution we receive is.
We want to thank you for all your support, whether that is through fundraising or volunteering your time. This has made a huge difference to our school and the programs we can offer.
Your support allows us to
• Increase the number of mobile devices available to students
• Increase the hours of our education support (aides) and support teachers in the classrooms
• Purchase resources over and above the basic essential instructional items
• To update our ageing projectors and smartboards in our classrooms
• Update school-wide site licences for software and purchase new software for student use
• Replace and service classroom air conditioners
• Purchase play equipment for passive play
• Resource the Wellbeing room
• Purchase/replace outdoor play equipment
• Refresh our Library book stocks
• Provide Specialist furniture e.g., kidney tables for small group and individual instruction
• The maintenance person’s salary
• Purchase of STEM resources such as Micro bits boards, ipads, robotics and coding equipment.
• We would eventually like to purchase a large retractable projector and screen for the school hall
Thank you for your support.
A wonderful time was had by all students (bar one fractured pinkie!).
Students were challenged and engaged. Each one stepped up meet to various challenges; from heights in the rock climbing, high swing and flying fox, to learning new skills such as archery and team-work planning for the low ropes activites. As well as the skills required for the camp activities, our students learnt valuable indepence and organisational skills. They had to learn about the responsibilites of packing bags, looking after their own belongings, getting along with and helping others.
We were very proud of the year 4 students. They behaved inpecably and respectfully.
Many thanks to our year 4 teachers and especially our volunteers; Anton, Belinda, Julia and Helen. Camps just can't happen without you all!

We are excited to inform you that Year 4 will be participating in the Bike Education Program as part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. The 4-week program will be held on Mondays in term 4, weeks 6 - 9.
While the program is for Year 4, common sense and road safety is for everyone. If you are going to ride to and from school wear a helmet. Walk your bike in Ailsa Grove.
On Tuesday of last week, we learned of the tragic incident at Auburn South Primary School that resulted in the death of a Grade 5 student and serious injuries to 4 other children.
Our thoughts continue to be with the Auburn South Primary School students, families, staff and wider school community.
We implore families to avoid making U-turns and using neighbours driveways to beat the traffic during drop off and pick up times. All the streets bordering our school are dead-ends. Lowe Street, particularly is extremely tight and not suitable for drivers to turn at the bottom. With children in close proximity, the simple act of reversing and turning in these streets during pick up and drop off times is fraught with danger. Aisla Grove does have a turning circle towards the end of the street and is much safer for pedestrians providing drivers do the right thing.
Please drive respectfully and keep in mind that children do not have a fully developed sense of road safety. It is much safer to plan ahead for an extra 5 or 10 mins and park in one of the surrounding car parks.
Year 6 students have begun working on a topic based on Australian Democracy as part of their studies in the subject of Civics and Citizenship.
In week 6, Wednesday 13th November, all grades will have the opportunity to visit the Grade 6 students in the beehive building and be entertained and informed about topics including, Australian Prime Ministers, Australian Federation, Women in Parliament, Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House, preferential voting and the how Canberra came to be our nation’s capital city. Following the school day on the 13th November 3:30pm to 5:00pm, we will be opening the doors for family and friends from the school community to also visit and enjoy the Grade 6 student projects.
On the Thursday 14th November, the Grade 6 students are looking forward to a visit from our local member of Parliament Kate Thwaites who will share her political journey dating back to her primary education.
Our Term 4 school Sunsmart Policy requires students to wear a hat outside during breaks, sport etc. We encourage students to apply sunscreen before school and reapply during the day. Students who aren’t following our instruction to be sunsmart were reminded this morning, that they would be sent to the designated shade area at the top of school. Your support from home is greatly appreciated.
