Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

Welcome to week 3 everyone, there's plenty happening! Between snakes, bees and swooping magpies (and the kangaroo that jumped in front of me on the way home last week) we've had quite the wildlife experience this term.

Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers Day and say thanks to the amazing team we have here. We're really lucky to have such a dedicated crew who have all of our students front of mind at all times. From me, I'd like to celebrate them.

We also look forward to seeing grandparents come in and visit tomorrow from 2:45 onwards for some activities in the classroom.

TRIVIA NIGHT

What a huge success Trivia Night was. The teachers table needs to pick up their knowledge of Gilligans Island, otherwise it was a night of such fun. A huge thanks to the School Council team for your huge efforts in organising the event. With a few deductions still to come, I can proudly say it raised over $8,000 for our school! This has alowed us to purchase our cubbyhouse as suggested by the students, and we'll look to support our school resources with some of the remainder. Thankyou to local businesses for thier donations, as well as people that supported the auction very generously. Well done everyone, it was a huge success!

BIKE ED

Bike Ed started this week with plenty of enthusasim. It was a great success, many students have been asking about Tour De Newham that we did last year. We will look to do something like this at the conclusion of our 4 sessions, more info on this will come out as it draws closer. I do apologise about the days changing, there's unfortunately nothing we can do about this but roll with what they've got. The remaining dates (at this stage) are as follows:

29/10/24 (This was originally the Monday but now TUESDAY)

06/11/24

11/11/24

I hope to see as many bikes here next week as we did this week. You're welcome to leave them in the shed over the course of our sessions if that suits families best. Placing them in the shed at the begining of the day  was great to keep them sheltered and safe, although a nightmare to get those from the back out. I'm really hopeful the weather is sunny so bikes can be taken directly to the multi purpose court, otherwise we'll come up with another solution. Watch this space.
