School Council

BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

The tragic accident at Auburn South Primary School on 29 October which resulted in the death of an 11-year old boy and serious injuries to four other children does serve as a reminder to ensure the safety and protection of our children. The front of the school at drop off and pick up is a CLEARWAY.

Just a little fall of rain on Wednesday afternoon resulted in every car park space being filled at afternoon pick up. This road is not a kiss and go zone. Please consider your community and park accordingly.

Since 2019, the school has been asking Parks Victoria, the VSBA, and the Department of Education for a solution for child safety at the front of the school on (no through road) Albert Park Drive south all to no avail. Further activity and action plans are currently being developed to define what else we can do as a community to impact this situation.

One potential forum to raise our local issues is an up coming forum being held by local MP Nina Taylor. The roundtable will take place on Wednesday 20 November 10.45am – 12pm at Creative Cubes South Melbourne, 111 Cecil St South Melbourne 3205 to give local parents the opportunity to share your experience with raising and looking after children (0-12yrs) in Victoria.
