Foundation
The Foundation children have been learning all about the lifecycle of a butterfly. It has been exciting watching chrysalis change colour and split, revealing a beautiful butterfly. We were happy to see the butterfly fly onto the flower petal, and be free.
Year 1
This week, the Foundation and Year 1s observed the transformation of a chrysalis into a beautiful butterfly! This hands-on experience has allowed our students to witness the incredible process of growth and change firsthand. It has been a wonderful reminder of the beauty of nature and the magic of learning.
Year 2/3
Crystal has arrived!
When Crystal arrived the chrysalis was green and we put her in a special cage for the butterfly to emerge and come into our world. We watched the chrysalis on Monday and Tuesday and recorded that it had turned a blue/black colour. Some time on Tuesday night Crystal came out of her chrysalis and was able to stretch her wings.
On Wednesday morning we met her and welcomed her into the 2/3 classroom. When Crystal arrived we noticed that she was orange, white and black with a pinch of peach.
The next day we went into Marty’s room to be shown how to feed the butterfly. We learnt that butterflies taste with their feet and drink with their proboscis. When we went back to class we used some orange cordial on a sponge to feed Crystal, but she tried to escape, and Rose Lee caught her. We put her back in her cage with the sponge.
On Friday we went outside to release Crystal, but Crystal did not want to leave us, so she attached herself to Connor and it took a while for her to leave. Rebecca eventually took her and placed her in the garden.
Year 3/4
Today, we said goodbye to our beautiful butterfly. We wish it well on its journey and hope it brings joy, happiness, and peace wherever it goes! 🦋
Year 4 / 5 Jimmy has arrived!
Jimmy is our class butterfly. Every classroom had their own chrysalis
to do with this term’s topic about the environment. Our topic is called “Our Sustainable World”. A butterfly is formed when a caterpillar turns into a chrysalis and when it hatches, it turns into a butterfly. We’re amazed at how Jimmy hatched on the same day as the year 3/4 butterfly, Butter Toast. They both hatched yesterday. We are so grateful to have a class butterfly. By Allie and Aleisha
On Tuesday 31st of October, our chrysalis Jimmy finally hatched. After a week of waiting- for this butterfly to arrive, we were all so happy that Jimmy was finally born! Jimmy is really big and beautiful and we can’t take our eyes off him! By Jasmine and Lauren
On the 31st of October, our class pet Jimmy hatched out of his chrysalis. It was a majestic orange Monarch butterfly. Jimmy is one of a kind, he is an endangered species. We are going to miss him when we release him this afternoon. By Stephanie and Tiffany
BIG DAY!!
We came to school yesterday in casual clothes and we were all very comfy! We went to Don Bosco Youth Centre on Sydney Road. There were so many things to do there! Natalie’s favorite was the pool table. I liked patting the bunnies - they were so cute! When we came back from Don Bosco, we were so tired but we all had so much fun there! When we came back to school we ate yummy pizza and ice cream and watched a movie. We really had a great time yesterday! By Raffaele and Natalie
On Thursday 31st of October, the year 3 and 4s had a Big Day. We went on a trip to a place called Don Bosco and when we arrived, the place was sooooo cool! It had many fun activities such as table tennis, playing on trampolines, playing pool, basketball and soccer. When we got back to school, we did mediation for a bit then played some games. We also made pizza. Afterwards, we watched a movie which was amazing. We had ice cream and it was so yummy. We went home at 6.30. The day was wonderful. By Callix and Azariah
As we walked into Don Bosco, there was a basketball court, trampolines etc. When we arrived back at school, we were exhausted, so we ate pizza and ice cream while watching a movie. After that, our parents came and we went home. By Cody and Kaone
We were going to burst with excitement because it was our big day out to the Don Bosco center in the morning. The building outside may have looked old but that didn’t mean it was going to be boring. The fun we all had was on a different level! Honestly, my favorite thing was playing pool even though all the other activities were fantastic! Nirav thought that table soccer was the best! But this morning wasn’t the end of it. Back at school, we could choose between two movies - Matilda or Spy Kids. We also had popcorn as we watched the movie. We made pizza for dinner and then had ice cream afterwards. We could put sprinkles on our ice cream. I think that we all had a really great day!!

Wellbeing ~ From Future Leaders to Founding Forgers!
A big thankyou and a massive shout out to 2025 future leaders, Maxie, Allie, Gail and Roman who gave up their time to assist in our third Foundation Transition session, which occurred at school last week. Next year's Foundation kids have been attending a number of sessions to help them transition into our school for next year, all with the help of these fantastic Year 5 students. Thanks again Roman, Allie, Gail and Max....you were outstanding!
Inquiry ~ Chrikey Crysalis!
Thanks to our wonderful Deputy Principal, Antoniette, all classes were provided with their very own crysalis to look after. It is all connected to our Term 4 Inquiry Science unit on the Environment and Sustainability. it has been wonderful watching our very own butterfly go through the process of metamorphisis to end up like this!
Congratulations to Katelin who predicted the time of arrival or Morpheus, our butterfly, into the world. She won a competition to feed and release the magnificent creature at a 'Saying Goodbye Morpheus' ceremony tomorrow. It's been a wonderful journey with the class, a unique opportunity to experience the wonderment and fragility of our world and the creatures that inhabit it. As well, it has highlighted the importance of our custodianship and responsibility to look after all living things. Thanks again, Antoniette!
The senior students are on their own journey to investigate an area of Sustainability and the Environment that interests them; from Life Cycles to habitats to Marine Biology. We look forward to sharing their new knowledge over the next month or so.
