ROAD TO ZERO

YEAR 10
Year 10 students took their learning beyond the classroom today with an engaging excursion to the Road to Zero experience at the Melbourne Museum.
As part of the Transport Accident Commission’s (TAC) award-winning road safety education program, students explored the Safe System approach to reducing road trauma and examined how factors such as speed, reaction time, friction and vehicle design all contribute to stopping distance and crash outcomes.
Through a range of interactive exhibits and hands-on investigations, students tested predictions, developed and refined hypotheses, and analysed the relationship between increasing speed and the significantly greater stopping distance required. These activities provided a practical context for key Science and Health concepts, particularly around forces, motion, and risk reduction strategies.
The experience encouraged students to think critically about real-world road safety challenges and the science behind safer travel, reinforcing the importance of informed decision-making for both drivers and passengers.
Overall, it was a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with contemporary, real-world applications through this highly regarded TAC education program.
