Save the Date for the Visual Arts HSC show
The annual exhibition evening of the Visual Arts HSC Bodies of Work will be on Friday, 31 July, 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the DPA. There will be delicious nibbles and live music provided by the Hospitality and Music students respectively. This is always a very good reason to brave the cold and see what a talented bunch of creatives we have, and it is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by the students, staff and parents! Without giving too much away, this year sees hand-built ceramics, stunning atmospheric photography, some very refined oil painting and so much more! We hope to see you there.
Experiencing Passover: Learning Through Taste and Tradition
This week in Religious Education, our Year 7 students explored the Jewish festival of Passover in a hands-on and memorable way. As part of their learning, students were introduced to the Seder meal — a special ritual meal that retells the story of the Exodus.
Rather than only reading about the traditions, students had the opportunity to sample a range of symbolic foods found on the Seder plate. Each item carries deep meaning: the bitterness of herbs representing the hardship of slavery, the sweetness of charoset symbolising hope, and the simplicity of matzah reminding Jews of their hurried escape from Egypt.
By engaging their senses, students were able to make meaningful connections between the historical narrative and the lived religious practice. The experience sparked curiosity, thoughtful discussion, and a deeper appreciation of how faith and tradition are expressed in everyday life.
This interactive approach highlights the value of experiential learning in RE, helping students to better understand and respect the beliefs and practices of others

Years 7 and 8 students wowed by A Midsummer Night’s Dream performance
Years 7 and 8 students braved the rain to head to Orange Civic Theatre where they were delighted by a lively performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream presented by Sport for Jove. The talented actors brought Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy to life with energy, humour and audience interaction, making the play both entertaining and accessible for our young viewers. Students enjoyed following the mischievous antics of Puck, the confused lovers and the magical inhabitants of the forest. The performance provided an engaging way to deepen students’ understanding of Shakespeare for Year 8 who studied the play last year and allowed Year 7 to be introduced to the Bard in the lead up to their Shakespeare unit in Term 3. The visit was a memorable educational experience enjoyed by students and staff alike and really highlighted the enduring relevance of the play to a modern audience.
Year 11 Modern History
Year 11 Modern History students have been studying the Meiji Restoration which occurred in Japan 1868 – 1912. They have been studying primary and secondary source documents to deepen their understanding of the rapid modernisation of Japan and the impact both nationally and internationally. To mark the end of the unit and to deepen their understanding of Japanese cuisine, our Modern History students spent some time at Mr Sushi King. Our Modern History students have now commenced their study of the Decline and Fall of the Romanov Dynasty.
