Debating
Round 2 of Debating took place at Endeavour on the evening of Monday, 1 June.
Our teams had some amazing victories and some heartbreaking losses:
7 Geese - LOST
7 Orange - WON (Lucy Lee BEST SPEAKER)
8 Brown Snakes - LOST
9 Purple - WON (Evie Madigan BEST SPEAKER)
9 Green - WON (Abigail Vidyasagar BEST SPEAKER)
10 Gold - WON (Mayar Al Khateeb BEST SPEAKER)
Senior Red - LOST
Senior Yellow - LOST (by only 0.17!)
Despite more losses in comparison to Round 1, this was still a solid effort tonight by all teams. Endeavour has seen rounds like this in previous years and the same teams that lost have bounced back, so the coaches are keen to see what successes are awaiting us in Round 3.
Our Year 10 and Senior Teams are reminded that your next debate is on your study day in Week 9, Monday, 22 June so please hit the ground running with your next topics to help manage your time in the lead up to exams.
The topics for Round 3 are:
Year 7: That Blake should drink the elixir.
Year 8: That Australia should implement an opt-out system for organ donation.
Year 9: That hostile architecture is a reasonable part of urban design.
Year 10: That Australia should stay out of the Iran war.
Seniors: That the public backlash to the Tickle v Giggle case is warranted.
Year 7s are being presented with a unique topic that has not been seen in the last five years of debating, a quodlibetical debate.
As the Year 7 teams will see, they are presented with a text and the arguments that they will make are far more philosophical and less research based.
As always, thanks to coaches for all of the effort that you put into your teams and the time you give up on nights like tonight.
The same goes for parents, we appreciate the time you take out of your evenings to support your children.

Nicholas Vistoli
We would like to congratulate Nicholas Vistoli (Year 11) for his outstanding achievement in winning the South Australian regional competition for Expo4Barbers, held on 19 May 2026.
As part of the competition, students were required to create and submit a video showcasing a complete haircut and styling process from start to finish within one hour, including editing.
Nick demonstrated exceptional skill, time management and creativity, completing his submission with 10 minutes to spare.
His success has earned him a VIP pass to compete in the Expo4Barbers New School National Competition on the Gold Coast in April 2027.
The national competition presents an exciting opportunity, with the overall winner securing a place at the International Barber Expo in London in 2028.
We are incredibly proud of Nicholas's dedication, talent and professionalism, and we wish him every success as he prepares to represent South Australia at the national level.
Jack Wilton
We would like to congratulate Jack (Year 11) on his selection to represent South Australia at the School Sports Australia U18 Baseball Championships, held in Adelaide during the first week of Term 2.
This achievement marks the second time Jack has represented South Australia this year, having also competed at the Australian Youth Championships in Melbourne during the January school holidays.
The School Sports Australia Championships brought together some of the nation's most talented young baseball players and attracted professional scouts from Major League Baseball organisations and American colleges.
While South Australia narrowly missed progressing to the medal rounds, Jack delivered an outstanding performance and was named Most Valuable Player for South Australia in their opening game against a strong New South Wales side.
We are excited to celebrate of Jack's dedication, talent and commitment to his sport, and we congratulate him on an impressive year of baseball achievements so far.
We look forward to following his continued success both on and off the field.
