Cabaret: One Night in Hollywood
On Friday, 22 May, the Music Department put on the annual Cabaret night, which was themed 'One Night in Hollywood'. The night included some amazing costumes, quizzes, prizes, and of course, a range of film music.
Guests came to the Cabaret dressed in either costumes of their favorite movie characters or in red carpet glamour.
Some highlights of the costuming included a whole table full of minions, an amazing batman costume, a troupe of rats from Ratatouille, and my brother, Flynn as Syndrome from the Incredibles.
A whopping ten ensembles played throughout the evening. The Year 9 band kicked off the night with ELO’s Mr Blue Sky, the Big Band performed themes from Rocky and Mission Impossible, the Show Band performed John Williams classics such as Cantina Band from Star Wars and the theme from Jaws and the Year 10 Band performed some funk and rock classics including the Foo Fighter’s Everlong. There were various other groups too, including the Flute Ensemble, String Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, Funk Band and Rock Band who all put on great performances.
A special Year 12 and Old Scholar band was put together especially for this event playing some upbeat numbers that have featured in films including Blame it on the Boogie and Mr Brightside, which got lots of people up onto the dance floor. Guests also enjoyed the movie trivia challenges, with the staff tables winning two of the quizzes!
This night was such a success that tickets actually sold out before they were even advertised to students, so if you want to come to Cabaret next year, make sure you get your tickets early!
But, students, don’t worry if you missed out on tickets, as we will be having a lunchtime concert featuring two of the bands that performed at Cabaret.
It will be held next Tuesday lunchtime in the Mall, and will include the R&B band and Show Band. If you’d like to come and see the lunchtime concert, please come along to the Mall next Tuesday!

Reconciliation Week Assembly
Last week our College community came together for National Reconciliation Week. Based on the theme 'All in' NRW is was opportunity to reflect on our shared histories and cultures and actively participate in the ongoing journey of reconciliation in Australia.
A highlight of the week was our special assembly, with guest of honour Robbie Young from Kuma Kaaru. Robbie led us in a Smoking Ceremony, before sharing his knowledge and culture with our community.
While this week provides an important opportunity for conversation and learning, every day is an opportunity to take meaningful steps forward through collective action, hope and community.
We thank our students and staff for engaging respectfully in this important opportunity for learning, reflection and connection.
