Boys and Girls Knockout Gala Day – A Day of Great Spirit and Sportsmanship
The recent Boys and Girls Knockout Gala Day was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their skills, determination, and love for volleyball, despite some challenges faced on the day.
Our girls’ team, although unable to field a full squad, turned this into a positive experience by engaging in friendly matches with other schools. These matches were not only fun but also educational, as the other teams generously shared their volleyball knowledge and tips. It was wonderful to see our girls embracing the spirit of the day, building connections, and learning new techniques that will no doubt strengthen their game for future competitions.
The boys’ team faced tough competition in their pool. They went down in their matches but put up a valiant fight, particularly against the formidable ASC team. So close to victory, one more set or a touch more practice might have turned the tide in our favour. Their resilience and team spirit were commendable.
Overall, the Knockout Gala Day was a great reminder of the value of perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all our players for their hard work and enthusiasm. We look forward to building on this experience and coming back stronger next time!
Go team!
Eisteddfod
After recently celebrating our first Eisteddfod performers, we would also like to congratulate the students who represented the school in other sections of the Eisteddfod. Crystal Austin performed in the solo vocal section and showed excellent pitch and rhythm control, even while feeling nervous.
Skyler Neville placed first in the Woodwind Solo, 14–18 Years section — a wonderful achievement.
Our Stage 4 Elective Music students (Isabelle Byers, Chaise Gibson, Claire Maskell, Amara McFarlane, Annabel and Elizabeth Sowerby) also gave their first band performance. Their perseverance was especially commendable, as they continued to practise through challenges and showed the courage to perform outside school.
Well done to all students involved. It was also a valuable opportunity for them to listen to and learn from students from other schools.
