Kindergarten

Kindergarten students have been very busy and learning lots during Term 2. We are excited to share all the wonderful activities happening in our classroom.

We warmly welcome Miss Delaney, a pre-service teacher, who has been working with us for six weeks. She is excited to work with the children and support their learning.

In Literacy, we have been reading the book “The Potato People” by Pamela Allen. The students loved designing and making their own potato people using real potatoes and craft materials. It was a fun way to bring the story to life and be creative!

For Reconciliation Week, the class read the Dreamtime Story “How the Birds Got Their Colours.” To celebrate, the students created colourful bird artwork using painted handprints. They also enjoyed decorating Iwata (echidna) biscuits with Mrs Taylor in the Food Technology room—a tasty and enjoyable experience!

All Kindergarten students did an amazing job during our assembly in Week 6. Their retelling of the story “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” was very entertaining and showed great teamwork and confidence.

Congratulations to Finley whose artwork titled “Mr Polar Bear” is amongst a group of 60 finalists in the 2026 University of New England School Acquisitive Art Prize (“Let’s Hang It!”). This is an amazing achievement given there were 716 art entries from 65 different schools.

In Mathematics, the students have been learning to tell the time using both analog and digital clocks. They are beginning to understand how the hour and minute hands move during “o’clock” times and are practicing saying the correct time.

We are proud of the Kindergarten students for all their hard work and look forward to watching them continue to grow and learn in the coming weeks!

Aboriginal Dance Workshop

On Thursday 4th June three students from Uralla Central attended the NSW Public Schools Brolga Academy Aboriginal Dance Workshop at Hillvue Public School, Tamworth. The aim of the workshop was to foster and develop dance skills of cultural significance, through traditional and contemporary dance movement. The students were guided in sharing stories, song and dance and mimicked movement of the Dhinewan (Emu), Burraalga (Brolga) and Wandhaka (Eagle) among others. Students enjoyed the day and had an opportunity to engage with students from other schools within the region and an opportunity to create stories through dance.
