Principal's Report

External Validation

Last week, our school has successfully completed an External Validation process, where we worked to assess our school against the School Excellence Framework, providing evidence to support our assessment. We then met with two representatives from the Department of Education to validate our judgements and assessments. We received feedback indicating that we have made some significant achievements, recognising our commitment to excellence in learning and teaching at Uralla Central School.

Our External Validation will be instrumental as we develop our school’s future directions for the next four years. By reflecting on our strengths and identifying areas for growth, we are setting a clear path to continue improving outcomes for all students. We look forward to sharing our plans and progress with the school community.

Athletics Carnival

Thank you for your patience as we tried to navigate clashes of events and then the weather to complete our athletics carnival for 2026. We are in the final stages of completing our field events as we had to postpone some of our planned events due to wet and cold weather.  A brief recount of the day was provided at today's assembly.

We will be hosting workshops in the hall for our primary students and visiting students from Rocky River, Kentucky, Kingstown, Kellys Plains and Chandler Schools. Sports games and events will then take place on the oval.

A K-12 assembly will be held at 12.30pm where we will be presenting students with attendance of above 95% with trophies.

A BBQ lunch and cake cutting will take place after the assembly.  We invite all members of our school community to join us for the assembly and lunch.

Public Education Surveys

We invite all students, staff, and parents to participate in the Public Education Surveys. These surveys provide valuable feedback that helps us improve our school community and the educational experience for everyone.

Two weeks ago, opt-out notes were sent home to families who did not wish for their children to participate in the surveys. Participation is completely voluntary and anonymous, ensuring all responses are confidential.

Parents who wish to complete the survey can do so via the following link: Survey Login

We appreciate your time and input and look forward to sharing the survey results with the school community later in the year.

School Uniform

We would like to remind all students and families of the importance of wearing school uniform every day. The school uniform is a vital part of our identity, helping to create a sense of pride, belonging, and equality within our school community.

It is expected that all students wear the correct uniform, including appropriate footwear. Very short pants/shorts, skirts and football shorts (such as Pig Chasing Australia shorts - PCA) are not school uniform and should not be worn.

It was agreed by the school's parent body at our meeting this week (Uralla Central School P&C), if students do not wear the correct school uniform, they may not be permitted to represent the school at external events, excursions, sports, or competitions. Maintaining uniform standards ensures our school is represented with professionalism and respect in the community.

If there are any issues or challenges concerning uniform items, please contact the office so we can assist. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our school values. Let’s work together to ensure everyone is looking their best each day in correct school uniform.  Thank you for your help.

Farewell Linda

Last week, our school community bid a fond farewell to Linda Whackett, who has served as one of our school cleaners for the past 24 years. From early mornings to late afternoons, Linda has ensured our classrooms, corridors, and playgrounds are not only clean, but safe and welcoming for all. Her reliability over more than two decades is a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication to our school community.

As Linda embarks on her well-earned retirement, we reflect on her invaluable contribution and thank her for keeping our school spotless and clean.

On behalf of everyone at the school, thank you, Linda, for your years of service. We wish you happiness and relaxation in the years ahead!

Kindergarten Transition Program Commences

We are excited to announce that our Kindergarten Transition Program will commence on Wednesday, 22nd July. This important program is designed to support our future kindergarten students who will be commencing school in 2027.

To launch the program, we will be holding a parent meeting at 9.30am on the first day. All parents and carers of incoming kindergarten students are warmly invited to attend. This meeting is a wonderful opportunity to meet our staff, learn more about the transition activities planned for your child and ask any questions you may have about starting school. We will also provide practical information about routines, expectations, and how you can best support your child through this exciting stage.

Our transition sessions are structured to help kindergarten students become familiar with our school environment, make new friends, and build confidence before their first day. We look forward to sharing in their journey and helping each child feel safe, happy, and ready to learn.

We encourage all families to attend the parent meeting and participate in the transition program. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the school office.

Updating our Student Behaviour Policy

In our commitment to creating safe and positive learning spaces, NSW public schools are introducing a revised Student code of conduct. This revised Student code of conduct sets clear expectations for student behaviour during all school activities, including online and off-site.

The Student code of conduct will be implemented from Term 1, 2027. In Term 2 this year, schools will receive posters to display in teaching and school public spaces, with resources and professional learning available to support everyone in promoting positive behaviour.

Students and parents will be asked to acknowledge the Student code of conduct annually as part of ongoing school processes.
